If you are using Logic and I am not sure if other DAWs offer this too - change the channel mode from LR Panning to binaural -- that might be enough . No need to buy more plugins. These cross talks plugins are not exactly cheap and usually you can replicate them also with what Logic already offers. The one can approach by @wompwomp will also work somewhat - you should try it, That is why a lot of folks use open back headphones also --- I certainly do and sometimes I would actually use them with the studio monitors in particular cube monitors ( meaning not as full range )

If I am tracking a teal instrument and singing - I certainly take a can off. I use headphones that you can remove the left or right cable so I don't get bleed when tracking but may not be needed if you are just practicing

imho the simplest way to achieve the idea as I understand it is to put the reference in one ear and leave the other open to the room you are sitting in. then you can hear your instrument

The music they're referencing and their signal would be in one ear and then there would be silence in the other. This would not achieve their stated goal.

Please explain in detail why when practicing this matters to you.

Because it sounds more like a practice situation and a separation of bass from other material should aid in hearing it better - it does even if I just use an amp in the room.

Also, where are you playing live that you are trying to replicate?

Nowhere specific. For practice it could even be the 7x10 room that is my man cave.

What kind of strings (flats/rounds) do you use on what kind of bass and brand with what type of pickups and brand of those pickups?

I'm using REAPER. I'll see if there's an option.

I've considered this, but I need to be quiet to avoid disturbing others in the house.
