True, and of course they are completely different models. Mine is a semi hollowbody.
Looks like an original nut and an aftermarket de-fret job to me, based on the Korean tuneguitars.com pictures.

Tune Guitar Manic Japan does a TWX fretless, but it's quite different.
Side note: I was recently in Osaka and bought a tune Zi-III-5 bass there, knowing immediately it was an insanely great bass but having only been loosely aware of the brand. After a LOT of digging online I was able to unearth the Tune Guitar Manic website and was delighted to learn the bass was actually made in Osaka, and they emailed me immediately with all the details about the bass given the serial number. Can't comment on the support from Korea.

Likely on the aftermarket de-fret.
The nut was loose when I got this bass and was filed for tapewound strings (which are noticeably thicker than the strings on my other basses). The B string height at the nut is 2mm, I checked my one other 5-string and it's 1.5mm, and my two 4-string basses are also 1.5mm... the string height feels like it's a mile - it's difficult to play the first two frets on any string because I'm fighting that nut. I'm not sure if I want to try to file the nut myself or take it across town to a luthier.
I did my own de-fret many years ago. It’s not too difficult to knock out the nut and sand down the bottom. YouTube/chatgtp is your friend on this stuff too, used with care.
I have a question. I live in Japan and returning to the US for a few weeks to visit parents in Boston, I have a Japanese Tune SWV I am thinking of selling. I am only in the US for two weeks, is best option to go into guitar center and see what they offer?
I do not think I have the time or energy to deal with reverb or something. Just thinking with the weak yen and strong dollar I might get better than selling it here in Japan.
Other option is getting membership here and doing it, but have never used that.

I hope others weigh in here, but IMO you're not going to get near what it would bring selling it privately (Reverb, Talkbass, even eBay). Depending on when your trip is, you might advertise it on one of these platforms in the U.S. and bring it with you to sell in Boston, where you are going to be. If you don't have time to coordinate that, you might have to ship it wherever it sells. Bottom line is that I wouldn't sell to Guitar Center or any major chain. That's my .02... YMMV
I think you'll get pennies on the dollar. Donating to a music school or some musicians who could use it may be a viable option.
GC won't know what it is. That *can* work in your favor, so worth a shot, but don't bank on it. Listing it here on TB is your best bet for a knowledgeable audience.

yeh, put an ad up for local sales. Will also try guitar center. If they offer the normal 60% of what they would sell it for, I probably would be down given I do not have to worry about other headaches.
Hey all. I have a 2014 Tune WBC-5, and while I love this bass, I've never actually played it for an entire show before now, so it may have had this particular issue all along, and I've only just noticed it.
After maybe 20-30 mintues, the volume gradually dies. At first I thought it needed new batteries, so I changed them, but it happened again. If I unplug the cable and plug it back in, it seems to reset things, and I'm back to full volume.
Anyone know what might be causing this? It literally just gets quieter and quieter, so much so that cranking the volume has no effect.
Thanks for any help with this, and if necessary, point me in the right direction of another thread on here.

My gut feeling is that a capacitor in the preamp is dying. When you unplug the cable, it disconnects the battery and allows the capacitor to discharge.
Note that I am not an electrical engineer... but if it were my bass doing this, I'd start by replacing all the electrolytic caps and see if that fixes it.

I believe it is a problem with the jack, since I can feel it moving around by just a little wiggling of the plugged-in cable. I have not opened it up yet, and wondered if anyone else here has had experiences with replacing the barrel jack in the hidden pocket on these basses?

take a chance with krackle killers , dave the canadian luthier fix a lot of guitars whith them and said that theses barrel jacks are an abomination , good luck ! i've read the whole thread and at post # 1,763 there is a picture of a nice switchcraft jack .Well, over the weekend I went to band practice and my beloved Tune Bassmaniac would not send any sound to the amp. Thanks, I will look into those! The new plug was installed within the last 12 months, and the bass is used intermittently, and not in grimy bars or damp locations. I really need to open up the back plate and see what's going on.
Since the switch is loose, I think it may have wiggled enough to pull the wires off.
it's best to give a little drop of blue loctite or super glue on the thread before tightening the nut . dave's world of fun stuff is a funny guy , learn lot of little tricks from his channel .
I love mine. It's the most comfortable of all my long scale basses.
The body of mine is of basswood, which is a tighter grain and softer wood than ash.
