Fender Rumble LT25, Studio 40 & Stage 800

Is someone using the envelope filter? I get a huge volume drop using it, but maybe I am doing something wrong. If someone has some usable settings for it I would appreciate it! I have zero experience with this type of effects.


I could have two presets, one with a big volume boost and the envelope filter and another without then, but that wouldn't be very handy...

I haven't tweaked the Envelope Filter effect on my Studio 40. But, I see by Droopy_TX's excellent DETAILED Presets Files, linked in the Tone App Support section of the Rumble Club Wiki page, that these presets have the Envelope Filter in them:
51. Funk Envelope
76. Funky Monkey
88. Slap FU​
And you can review their settings in those DETAILED Presets Files to see what's going on there.

Those files also say that the Envelope Filter is based on the Link Removed, which can be reviewed at this link, even download the instruction manual, if you want.

Thanks for the suggestion! I have checked those and indeed 51 has the problem I mention (huge volume difference) and 76/88 use a very subtle effect so the volume difference is not obvious. Given how the filter affects the volume an output level would help a lot, but it isn't there!

I am not a huge fan of using presets for different effects so I am trying to set only 5 presets for five different amps with distinctive sounds/EQ and then add the same or very similar 4/5 effects to all of them... so the envelope filter is not really usable in this setup.

And, so do you then tweak the effects of just those 5 presets each time you want a different tone? Sounds like a waste of lots of unused preset spaces, but ... whatever works for you!

I'll still have plenty of preset space to play around with other sounds! But with those 5 (as the GTX-7 has 5 switches) I want to mimic a normal pedalboard. The idea has some limitations though... so I might end up getting a physical pedal for the effects that I will use more (e.g. compressor) or don't like in the Rumble (envelope, octaver) and use the amp for the rest (e.g. the modulation ones sound very good to me).

Does someone actually have experience with pedals in front of the Rumble Studio? Are there some that work specially well (or bad) with the modeling amp?

This is a common issue with physical envelope filters, the more you add the effects and it seems to suck low end exponentially, same on all the physical env. filter pedals I owned.
That is what drew me towards the HX Stomp, where I can add a dry signal in parallel and work the mix between the two channels, so I do not have to compromise on the filter effects.

I have the same challenge with distortion, and so the same concept can be applied for these as well

The problem for me isn't so much losing low end as losing volume. There's a mix (or maybe it's called blend) control, but it adds back the straight sound at the expense of the filter sound. The problem of course is that it's a filter, so of course it takes stuff away.

Right, but my issue is when I must turn the effect on or off, there is such a change in low end and volume that it never feels like the same preset and would require extra work before a live gig to make sure it is leveled, I would be scared to switch the effect everytime if not

Good question. It seems like companies who make these kinds of products offer ways (like through USB, for example) to get their latest updates. Problem is, they never do the update.

I have a Zoom B1on and I never received any amp/effects updates, or maybe once. Then they move onto the next model year and you’re pretty much done.

Truth be told, I do wanna say I’ve received at least one of those types of revisions, though we do get software updates pretty regularly.

So to answer your question, Buzz, maybe, but I won’t be holding my breath.

Well, I've certainly enjoyed the Acoustic and Acoustasonic presets that have been added. And the Community has lots of interesting looking downloadable ideas that I really haven't delved into.

Only thing I can think would be fascinating to add wpuld be High Pass and/or Low Pass Filters. There's such a raging discussion about them on TB lately.

Yes, ‘Dog, the new Acoustic models and I believe that’s when the Orange was introduced too.

Well, we are up to version 3(.x.x) of the firmware, so that doesn't sound too bad to me. And the last major update, 11 months ago, included 11 new effects, so that's like one a month! There are definitely updates I'd like to see - a wooblier flanger, an output gain on the envelope filter, a Trace-Elliot(!) - but I can't say I'm even close to exhausting the possibilities.

Agreed. It seems like every multi-effects pedal out has a TE or an Eden model available. Aguilar too. Heck, let’s add a Mesa Boogie while we’re at it.

I love to tinker with effects, too, Buzzy. Thanks for bringing this up. It is time for some Rumbling excitement, since NAMM was such a disappointment. :thumbsup:

Say, I notice you're new to TB. How's about posting a pic of your Rumble in the Fender Rumble Club and getting a free Club membership number? It's all in good fun and fellowship, but often with some seriously cool tips & tricks! ;)

Not aware of those effects,IL check them out..I'd love more "stereo" effects pedals..
I've never recorded the bass yet into a DAW etc..
Does it come out in stereo?.. particularly the effects..
PS:If anyone is interested I posted a few of my experimental presets in the Fender Tone app under the name PatrickR..
