Fender Rumble LT25, Studio 40 & Stage 800

I haven't played in a band since HS (which was a loooooong time ago). One thing the pandemic has done is allow me to start playing again. Still not good enough to play in a band that gets paid, but hoping to become good enough to participate in some open jams when things open up again. Loving my Studio 40, my new Yamaha bass, and even enjoying my old Aria Pro, now that it's been set up properly.

I just wanted to say that I caved in and just bought the Stage 800. It dropped to 887.00CAD and I couldn’t pass it up. It will be delivered next week. I am really excited to try out some of the tones. I’ll post a pic when I get it.

Congrats! Hope you enjoy it.

I'm interested in what G-Dog is doing with output from his Studio 40 into his Rumble 500. If I find I need more output in the future, I may go that route.

I have the LT25 and the amp models are great but the effects are sometimes maybe not so good. The octaver is poor and tracks badly, the compressor is next to useless. The $20 Kokko compressor I bought of Amazon kills it stone dead, but those Kokko things really are good. Some of the effects are just novelty items you would never realistically use, and the factory presets are in my opinion badly chosen or voiced. But I'll tell you when the LT really impressed me.

It was when I was playing through headphones using one of the Marshall amp models, left the note to sustain, and it began to feedback and distort. And you could PLAY the feedback and distortion. It put you, if you understand what I'm saying, "in the room".

Read that again and think about it. That's clever stuff.

I've never had a modelling amp before, but now I'm thinking I will definitely pull the trigger on an LT Stage before the end of this year. I don't NEED it right now, the 25 is enough, but when I do need it, I will have it.

Good deal, RL. Let me refer you to the Connecting Combos Together section of the Rumble Club Wiki page. Particularly to the Chaining Stage or Studio to Another Rumble Works Differently link. Instead of connecting one, or both, FX Sends of the Studio to an FX Return on another amp, you need to connect to the instrument input of the other amp(s) with that EQ set flat (10, 2, 2, 10 for Rumbles). Just sayin'. ;)

Hi, Chick! Welcome to TalkBass. Great to hear from an LT25 owner. We don’t have a lot of them here, and I'm always curious about them. Look forward to hearing more from you. :)

But, point of order, there is no "LT Stage", nor "LT800". The 25 is the only "LT" and the big one is the Fender Rumble Stage 800. May I call you Choc? You seem quite experienced, bass-ically, for such a young age. Ok, I admit it, I'm a creepy old man stalking you by reading your TB profile! That's right, I'm not just another sucker for a pretty face. I'm a sucker for pretty much any face with a Rumble ... or a Bassman... or, a Fender bass, ... or, oh nevermind ... :smug:

If you're still reading, Chick, or Choc, please proceed to the Fender Rumble Club thread and post a pic of your LT25 to get a free Club membership number! That's the "All Rumbles, All the Time" main Club thread. This, right here, is the specialty Rumble bass modeling sub-thread of The Club for sparing our non-modeling Rumblers from our more technical discussions. Make sense?

Cheers!

ps: Another fun TB club you may be interested in is the Combo Club where the Fearless Leader is a benevolent sort of tyrant. They, too, like to see a picture of your comb(s) for admission to that club.

I just posted there now. Thanks for the invite. I've been out of the loop for a little while as I was manufacturing kids in my inside parts so hadn't really realized the LT only applied to certain models . I have a tiny attention span. Ask my mom. She has receipts.

And I just inducted you into The Club there, too, Choc. And we'll be happy to help get you back into the loop. Just ask, answer, or discuss whatever you wish, here, there, or anywhere on TB.

And, I must say, there's none more noble, and sometimes frustrating, endeavor than the successful rearing and fledgling of those little ones. Take it from this old great-grandpaw!

Was I a little too harsh on the Stage/Studio learning curve, do you think? Overly optimistic about the diminishing of The 'Rona? I dunno, ya know? I feel strongly both ways! Talk about "YMMV". It's never been more true, don't you think, ... or do ya? My crystal ball has definitely been "on the fritz" for quite some time, now.

I would consider that a pretty accurate assessment. I received my stage 800 on Feb. 3rd and was in the same boat, the only pedals I ever had were a Boss CS-3 Compression/sustainer and a Boss GEB-7 that I never have really used and there is a learning curve I'm working through. I upgraded from a Carvin MB10 with a MBE15 extension cab. My head is still spinning a bit. For comparison sake my purchase price was $799.99 USD + tax ($862.41 total shipped)from sweetwater for a new one. I had seen a demo model for $809.00 in late January and missed it. I talked to my sales engineer and got a quote. It was here via Fedex the next day. I live 2.5 hours away.

I must say I get endless pleasure getting new textures and tones out of the effects pedals on my Studio 40..I like to create atmospheric tones and noodle when I'm not rocking it or dry playing..Some of the presets are good for giving you pointers to tweak to your liking.. I usually just create my own to my own taste...

I like to hook up GarageBand from my iPhone, connect my Rumble to my laptop, and just mess with it. I was jamming along to Motorhead's "Bomber" album just the other day and dialled up some really nasty midrangey overdriven stuff. Music is supposed to be fun, and these amps are a lot of fun.

Ok, here's my chance ... Choc, do you use the Fender Tone App for your computer to edit presets? I thought I saw that happening in a NAMM video when the LT25 was introduced a couple years ago. I was kinda jealous that the Stage & Studio can't do that, at least as far as I know.
