Fender Rumble LT25, Studio 40 & Stage 800

Ah! Here we go, @Buzzment. This is where we discuss Rumble modeling stuff.

I mean the Stage & Studio Backup/Restore is an "all or nothing" feature. It won't backup or restore, say, only preset #33 which you've tweaked. It backs up all the presets & setlists currently on the amp and then restores them all, possibly overwriting any more recent tweaks made after the backup!

I was hoping the Tone App for PC/Mac might let us backup or restore just one, or a few, presets at a time. But, noOOooo-ooo! It's "all or nothing". o_O
.
Oh yea Dog ok..I don't mind really.. once you backed up favourite tones(the second 100)..and they can be restored as you made them..is that right?

That's right, Buzzy. It's really a great, albeit "shotgun", feature to be able to save "the second 100" presets (& first 100 & setlists). It's explained in the Addendum to the Stage & Studio manual. Really, I'm surprised it wasn't in the main manual because it's such an obviously needed facility. Being in the Addendum makes it seems like an afterthought.

Well, this Stage 800 just showed up. The Rumble 100 is in a timeout for now. :)

As soon as it warms up inside for a bit, I’m going to try it out while nobody is home!

And, further, there is no way to privately post a single preset to the Tone cloud. If you post a preset to the cloud, everyone can access it. I have no issue with everyone accessing my presets; but, I would feel bad about polluting the Tone cloud with temp, work-in-progress, or test presets.

That’s one of the main reasons why I started recording my settings locally in a spreadsheet. The other main reason was the demise of Fender Fuse. If Fender Tone becomes unsupported, and the cloud...umm... “parts” (?)... well, let’s just say I don’t want to be dependent on a cloud service.

Thanks, I will post a pic of my Rumble 100 in the next few days. I really love my Rumble 100.

You’re right that there is usually a 300.00CAD difference. Amazon.ca has the 800 on for 953.00CAD and I am so tempted to buy it.

Wee-ee-ell! You sure gotta great deal there, Tommy. You can post both of your Rumbles in the Fender Rumble Club to get a membership number!

This might be a silly question but it never hurts to ask. I've got a Stage 40 that I really like. I've found I normally use the Flip Top SVT Rig preset. I play around with everything else but always come back to that. So, I've been thinking about an Ampeg PF20T all tube amp. I've been able to hear sound clips and really love what I'm hearing. Do any of you happen to have both amps? If so, how close is the tone of the Stage 40 to the Ampeg? I don't want to spend all that money if I'm already really close.

The Flip Top is the better Ampeg-like model on the Studio 40, but the Ampeg models on the Helix (for example) kind of blow the Studio 40 away. Ampeg and Fender amps each have their distinctive sound baked into their DNA, and most players strongly prefer one to the other. If you like Fender's okay-ish impersonation of an Ampeg, I would assume you would really like a real Ampeg, of most any type.

Yo, joey! I dunno much about Ampegs, but I believe the flip-top and the SVT are two different models, are they not? So, I'm not sure which preset you're referring to.

I'm also not much on Ampeg tones, but I am calling on @iagtrplyr, who has a Stage 800 and loves Ampegs. Perhaps he can speak your language bbetter than some.

I think this is an interesting construct...
I started playing bass since the Covid thing began, so no real opportunities to get out and hear for myself many of the amps that are modeled on the Studio/Stage amps.
It would be cool to hear from those that have experiences with the real thing how well the Studio/Stage models really replicate those amps.
So for those that are lucky enough to have played through the real things, how does your Studio/Stage sound compared to a real Fender Bassman, or SVT, or even a v3 Rumble, etc?
Thanks!!

Hello all! Nice to be called in for a consultation. Ole Barfany there summed it up nicely. Though I think the Ampegs sound way better in the Stage/Studio lineup than compared to my old Bronco 40 combo, I don’t feel they’ve got the tube ‘Pegs down, nor should they lose any sleep over it either. They want a ballpark tone, IMHO, and that’s enough.

What I’d do if I was sweet on the Studio and was nervous about spending lots of cabbage on the 20T (which is the default B-15 in that line) is I’d get close up and personal with the Fender Tube Preamp model; one I give a big thumbs up on. Mess with it’s tone controls, add a little gain grit, run it through a Fliptop cab and it’s something I think you’ll like.

Or you could pony up for the PF-20T and get a killer recording tube amp with great versatility. I don’t believe it has a headphone out though, so it all depends what you’re aiming to do with it. A lot of players would love to be in your dilemma!

Doggie, you can easily convert one of those Ampeg models (I use #30 Motown) to mimic a B-15. Give it a try sometime and feel the magic, though I still think I like the Fender Tube even better.

Hope this helps,

Iago

Gracias, herr Fearless Leader of the Combo Club. I knew I could count on you, despite that clever little avatar trick you played on me. Merci beau coups, Your Excellency. ;)

In today's episode of "Life Is Fun", a long story.

I went to do my daily practice on the Black Bass, and it was buzzing out on open strings. Like, badly. Now, I'd done a tiny truss rod tweak on it this week but I couldn't imagine how that would make open strings buzz on the 1st fret. Then, I remembered, I had switched out the nut for a Graphtec when I changed the strings a couple of weeks ago. Maybe I had slotted the nut to deep and needed a shim under it. So, I slacked off the strings, popped the nut, and found the problem. The fingerboard had detached itself from the neck to almost the second fret. That's gluing up now, no biggie.

Anyway... I grabbed the next bass in the stack. The FrankenFretless. Straight off the bat I used the "Electrik Upright" factory preset, and it's perfect. I'm going to copy that one off to an empty slot and tweak it with maybe a little chorus and octave, but for now I'm just having fun with it. I hope everybody else is having a fun day, too.

Well, it turned out to be a good day and the Black Bass is now fully repaired, set up, and playing better than ever. I had to re-dress and re-crown the first fret, I guess because the extra glue had thrown things out a few thousandths of an inch and I like my setup to be right on the edge of what is possible. Sometimes a little way past the edge. First problem I've had with that bass since 2008 so I have no room for complaints. She's solid.

Has anybody successfully connected their Rumble's USB audio out to a Windows 10 DAW? I'm using ASIO4All and it's like it's not even there. The system just won't recognize it.

**frustration**
I can make recordings by directly connecting the Rumble Stage 800 to the PC with the Windows 10 operating system via a USB cable. The recording software I use is Bandlab. It is a free web application that works in the browser without having to install any program. You just need to be registered. It is a good idea to adjust the USB output gain on the Rumble so as not to saturate the signal. I have used +4.5 dB.
