    Where do you stand?

The stage plot of professionals is to have the bass player on the high-hat side of the drummer. This allows easy communication between the rhythm section, keeps your headstock clear of hitting cymbals, and prevents deafening cymbal wash.

Allow me to vent about internet charts

Exactly! There is freedom in structure. I’m good with a different arrangement too, if they can tell you what it is, like your example!

Allow me to vent about internet charts

I had to laugh, because I could have written the original post! I make my own hyper-accurate charts from the studio version of a song in it’s original key. Inevitably some other musician or bandmate will say: “That’s not how it goes”, because they are looking at their i-Pad or have simply...

Jam nights; take your favorite bass, a clunker, or use the house guy's?

I I use my regular gigging axe. I feel it’s presumptious to expect to use the host players bass, unless they know you & know you won’t abuse it. Frankly, if you are any good, you’ll have your own instrument with you.

Picking Out A New Bass. ...input. Rickenbacker Vs Jazz

I've played an American jazz bass ever since high school. I bought a made in Japan Getty Lee Fender several years ago. The neck is thin and fast but I always ended back on my 74. I'm three days into owning my first RIC. A 2002 model 4003. I love it, I can't put it down!

How much did you pay for your first bass?

I started playing bass in 1974. Bought a Fender mustang bass brand new w case for $189.00! It was sunburst with a rosewood fretboard. I traded it to a music store along with another $275 cash for a used 1974 Fender jazz bass & case. I've been playing that one ever since until a few years ago...

    Rickenbacker Help?

Thanks Paul, yes it has binding and the shark fin inlays. It is a fire-glo finish that is petty defined on the back. I think it's what has been called "bozo-glo" one of the facebook pages!

    Rickenbacker love

Hey y'all, new to talk bass. I've played Fender jazz basses for years, and just bought a Rickenbacker 4003. Anxiously awaiting her arrival, and trying to get up to speed on these basses.
