Rickenbacker Help?

Impatiently waiting for a 2002, that I bought off eBay. Listed as a 4001, but I think it is a 4003. Estimated delivery date is tomorrow. I can't wait, this is my first RIC. Hoping I made a good decision......

Well, it could be a "4001V63" or a "4001C64" which were the "vintage" models available that year, but if it is a standard Rick with binding and shark-fin inlays, then it would be a 4003. The "real" 4001 basses were made from late 1961 (1962 more likely) to the early 1980s.

Thanks Paul, yes it has binding and the shark fin inlays. It is a fire-glo finish that is petty defined on the back. I think it's what has been called "bozo-glo" one of the facebook pages!
