    Recommend an acoustic bass guitar...

I'm another in favor of the Breedlove Atlas. Sounds nice, well built, and the Baggs electronics works great. Took a bit to get comfortable with the big body. Needs amplification even when accompanying just one unplugged acoustic guitar. Tried Fender, Ibanez, Kelly before picking up this one.

POLL: Fender Basses and "Dead Spots"

Well gee BassHappy. I simply made a statement to contribute to the conversation, and hopefully become more enlightened on the problem. Your response was quite rude. I guess el Bandito feels the same. But I appreciate your expertise. Anyway, thank you for your Memorial Day best wishes. Was...

POLL: Fender Basses and "Dead Spots"

My understanding is that the dead spot phenomenon is a common characteristic of all stringed instruments.

POLL: Fender Basses and "Dead Spots"

After two Fender Js and one Fender P, all American, Ive noticed a slight loss of sustain at some frets but nothing like a loss of sustain after a second, or even ten. But I always look for this when shopping for a new bass. My P is a 1999 and does not have a significant dead spot as defined by...

    Playing bass unplugged

When practicing unplugged, I prefer to use my acoustic bass. You can hear finger noise, frets noise, buzz, etc., more than with my unplugged P with flats. I find that practicing with the acoustic bass helps make the P easier to play-- with the acoustic, I have to be more precise with finger...

    Micromark 801...

I think MarkBass sells a foldable wedge that tips the amp up for use as a monitor. Not sure how big that wedge is, though.

    Micromark 801...

Congrats! I play my Breedlove Studio acoustic bass through it and this little amp is a perfect fit.

    Irreversible climate damage is imminent

Easy folks, easy. The real question is: how do we keep the neck on our basses straight as our Earth's weather goes wacko? Do I need more graphite rods stuffed into it? Do I need more than a five piece maple neck with the wood grains oriented in every possible direction? Should I cave in and...

Why do you have 2 or more of the same Bass?

I do the same with my P's: one with rounds and one with flats. It just has to be done.

    Micromark 801...

I thought the same as you and i bought one two years ago. Great amp, and light! I found that it works great in small venues with boomy acoustics, where you can position it so that the "negative bass" emanating from behind the amp bounces off of a wall, that will help with projection of your...

Strings going to "wrong" tuning pegs.

Wow. Just wow. I am not sure I could restring in this manner without looking at the picture for reference. "Its better to look good than to feel good, you know what I mean?" This does not look good.

Why is the Fender jazz bass more expensive than the precision?

Yes, P is for Precision... Which implies therefore that J basses are imprecise.

Anyone ever fill in the CNC hole on their Jazz?

I say, take your favorite sticker, slap it over the CNC hole, and call it art.

    Halfwound/Groundwound Strings

IMO d'Addario half rounds are something you've got to try for yourself to see if that is the tone you're after. They have a tone that is thuddier, if you will, almost "dead" sounding. Depending on the kind of music you play, you may want to consider d'Addario chromes regular light flats...
