    REM "End of the World as We Know It" - Theory Question

    I've been trying to better understand the theory behind what i am playing. This song is in G Major, but the pre-chorus starts on A#, a minor 3rd, so it is out of key. Why does this work? is it considered a key change or only stylistic decision? Should my mind set should stay in major?

    Would you be offended if a band asked you to play a P bass?

    Depends - Ask what your role in the band is. I always ask before i joined a band. Am i here to drive someone else's vision, or are we collaborating? Either is just fine, i'm happy to be a hired gun. It saves frustration later.

    What is the Bassline that inspired you to pick up the bass?

    Anything from the blues brothers. Donald Duck Dunn had the best groove I have ever heard. Seeing a white guy with an afro and pipe made him the coolest dude I had ever seen.

    Got one about a month ago. I have alway played on jazz basses so the P neck always felt huge. I love the jazz neck on this beast. It's my number 1 bass right now.

    Unique Fender Basses 80/90s

    The pick up in the bridge is basically useless to me! its so thin! other than that its a great sounding bass. To me it seems to have a natural mid sweep, so its definitely geared towards rock/metal. It's the bass I learned to play on, so i am incredibly attached to it.
