A ton of unique basses came from the 80s and fender did their part to keep up.

What fender basses do you have that are not the typical P-bass/ J-Bass/ Mustang?

Nobody owns one of those H.M. basses from back in the late 80s/early 90s? I believe they had three pickups.

They had the MIJ Performer and Katana (1985-1987).

That's it! They also had a cool looking acoustic/electric around this time as well, I remember seeing one in my local music store.

Obviously the best bass for metal! Strange pickup placement, how does the sound compare to a standard Jazz bass?

The pick up in the bridge is basically useless to me! its so thin! other than that its a great sounding bass. To me it seems to have a natural mid sweep, so its definitely geared towards rock/metal. It's the bass I learned to play on, so i am incredibly attached to it.
