Why is my bass making a fizzy sound when notes are played?

    Never mind, got it sorted!

Anyone Try a Marshall JMP with Bass?

I've used the JMP in the past, using the Bugera 1960 as the guy above, with a Trace Elliot Stack. Really fantastic amps for bass both of them, they may be quite different in terms of quality with guitar but you're getting the same essence with both on bass. Clean you'll get a fantastic warm...

NBD: gretsch g2202 electromatic junior jet

You need to get some flats on this thing. I had a set of LaBellas on mine, can't remember the exact type but they were off a Hofner Violin bass. Unbelievable British invasiony sort of tone, really really nice, much more character than the rounds.

    Alternative P Pickup orientation

Just got this job done, sounds great! I ended up doing it so that it was fully hidden under the pickguard, and as I like my pickups very far from the strings this worked worked well. Wired it without a tone knob, it just doesn't need one. Really pleased with the sound though, it sounds very...

    Alternative P Pickup orientation

Yeah, just like this. I know it should work, but how does it sound?

    Alternative P Pickup orientation

I've been messing around with a Squier P recently, doing a few experiments. Added a bridge pickup, changed the wiring to that of a stack knob jazz bass, tried a few different tone caps, so far so good. I had an idea though, and it's something I've never seen done but i think it might be...

    Separate Tweeter / Horn Cabinet?

I'm not sure if any such thing exists commercially, but it wouldn't be a difficult thing to do yourself if you had even the most basic electronics experience and perhaps rudimentary woodworking skills to make some kind of casing, if you so desired...

Vox head phone amp anyone try one??

yes they are good get the bass one. the two issues are that the batteries seem to run out quite quickly and you can't adjust the tone, which is by default is quite bass heavy. still very good for practicing however.

    Ashdown VS412-600 cabinet?

Does anyone know anything about this cabinet? I'm in the market for a new cabinet and at first glance this looks rather tasty. I can't find any reviews at all online however. Does anyone have any experience with this cab?

Low cost tube head - Bugera 1960 vs Peavey VB-2? Or?

Bugera 1960 is nice actually. I love mine and it would fit the sound you're after nicely, but I can't guarantee that it'll be reliable. Some people don't seem to trust them. You'll need a decent cab though I'd say. A lot of people are skeptical that they put out 150w but I wouldn't be so sure...

    500w head + 300w cab = bad idea?

It'll be fine if you're careful. Just be aware that your amp is absolutely ready to tear your speakers to pieces very quickly if you go overboard. You'll probably be able to tell whether it's in trouble though, you'll hear loud distortion if it is.

My rig is suddenly not quite as loud as it used to be

Put a 9V battery across the terminals of each of the speakers, if they move, they work, and if they move in the same direction then they're in phase. Even if you felt both of the speakers moving when sound was coming out, it's still possible that one could be working and the other is just being...

How will another 1x15" effect my volume?

This is really enlightening guys, I'm glad I asked. I'd say I'll probably be doing this in the near future, when I get a little bit of cash. I have another question though, too. A lot of people have been saying that adding another cabinet increases the bass response, too. Does this mean that...

How will another 1x15" effect my volume?

I know they would go to 2 if they were running in parallel, but since my amplifier can only go down to 4 they would have to be run in series. That's okay though, I thought I'd read somewhere that the impedance effects the output power. Just out of interest, with everyone saying it would go to...

How will another 1x15" effect my volume?

Normally, I'd know the answer to this question. I already use a 1x15", so doubling that area should add around 3dB, right? However, due to some regrettable short sightedness on my part about a year ago, I bought a 4 ohm speaker. If I were to add another identical one, that would leave me with an...
