NBD: gretsch g2202 electromatic junior jet

craigslisted this today with hard case included for 120usd. The guy said he had people calling him trying to talk him down (amazing).

Mostly fiingerprints and a couple of very very light dents in the finish. Still has the factory strings on it as well..the low E is thumpy. Pickup is hot and there's no noise, pots were clean as well. Brought an amp to test with but we were in a lobby so I couldn't crank it at the time. That waited for when I got home. Probably will need to do a string search.

You need to get some flats on this thing. I had a set of LaBellas on mine, can't remember the exact type but they were off a Hofner Violin bass. Unbelievable British invasiony sort of tone, really really nice, much more character than the rounds.

I got one of those recently. You got a better deal on yours though.
I almost returned it, but I'm glad now that I didn't.
I really like the low string thump, and don't think I'd want to change that about it.

Nope this is a keeper bass. I ended up tossing d'addario chromes on it and they play quite nicely.

I notice that g2202's come up on craigslist about once a month or so, at least around here.

My squier bronco actually gets more play time but that's because I've been fiddling with it. For playability I really like the neck on the bronco, maybe even slightly more than the gretsch, but as an overall package the gretsch wins hands down. A new bridge will get the bronco a little bit closer. I'm toying with maybe defretting that bronco after the bridge replacement...

Me? I still love this bass. Still wearing chromes. Just love the sound and vibe from it with the tone knob cranked.
Very tempted to get rid of the bronco and just keep this and the hadean ubass I defretted.

No you can't dial in different sounds with it, but I don't feel that to be necessary at all.
