I kept it in the rack for years, but always went for my P or J instead. I still think the Tbird is a cool looking bass, it's just not for me.

I used to think thunderbirds were the coolest looking bass ever. I wanted one badly for years. Then I finally bought one. It was the most unergonomic bass I've ever owned. Never played it again after the first week. Finally sold it a few years later.

I've always found him personally irritating but I could just ignore him. Though I wasn't surprised by the cheating, since he's always been a sketchy guy, the racist comments threw me off. I don't feel I can ignore it.

For the most part, I've always tried to avoid talking to him about anything non-music related. I have confronted him about the racist comments, but to me it's just one more item to add onto his bad personality.

The racism and cheating didn't come to light until the last couple years. They weren't jokes but him venting his anger at certain individuals. Either way, it is inexcusable. FYI, I am bi-racial and in our original band he was the only white guy, which makes it even more appalling..

I have modded my MIM J bass just how i want it. Tung oil neck, Model J pickups, Gotoh style bridge, and a bone nut. My MIA P is stock because I don't want to decrease its value. I prefer my J.

I already shimmed the neck and raised the action and it seems to work. The string is about 5mm higher than the neck pickup. I think I need the extra height to compensate for the higher output of the Model Js compared to the stock pickups.

Neck is perfectly straight, action is super low and the pickups won't go much lower. I think I need to raise the action and shim the neck so there is less variance in distance from string to pickup.

I just installed Model J pickups on my fretless. They are very responsive. One thing I noticed is as I slide up the neck, the string gets slightly closer to the pickup and the volume increases significantly. What is the best way to fix this issue?

Thunderbird. I hated the neck dive. I could've drilled new holes, but it was easier just to sell it.
