    G&L Club Part 7

Thank you! Is that pot the same as the one inside my L1000? Doesn't seem to have the capacitors on the top.

    G&L Club Part 7

Speaking of knobs, the bass pot on my L1000 is quite loose such that it will often, on its on, back off from where I usually keep it up full. Is the only answer taping it wide open or replacing the pot? Any secret trick to tightening the resistance of a pot?

    Official GR Bass Club

Just got a crazy good deal (at least I think it is) on a brand new One 1400 that will be perfect for my 4 ohm 210 and 8 ohm 112 cabs when i run them together. Very excited to have the flexibility to also get and use a small cab as a personal monitor since I can run both cabs out of one speakon...

Should is the operative word. I think my ears just don't hear like they used to but I will listen for that. I think you're right. I dialed in some HPF on my Zio pedal and really got a nice tone. Thanks!

Interestingly, I snipped one of the cap wires and it still sounds quite OMG-y to my ears. Not much difference in that position. Hope I didn't snip the wrong wire! :) Is it just subtle? I thought it would be a pretty dramatic difference.

Just to be certain, the green cap in the red circle is the OMG cap? I think I'll just de-solder it from the switch and remove it entirely. Hope it helps!

Thanks for that suggestion. I will look at that as well. I find OMG to be too boomy for most environments anyway. Plus, I have so much bass boost between my pedal pre and my amp, I can shake the walls without noise!

Thanks for that! I also have and have used conductive shielding paint. Not sure how much it helped but it was easier to apply. Any experience with that?

    G&L Club Part 7

Hey all...I've noticed that my L1K is really quiet on the humbucking mode (as expected) but really noisy, to the point of being unusable, in single coil modes (up and middle). Is this normal? Would shielding the control cavity help or is it just the nature of the MFD? This bass has the rear...

I knew that would get asked and I'm sorry for not adding that initially. They are, to the best of my recollection, Dunlop String Lab 45-105 flats. Really cut through nicely, easy to play and big fat sound. I first tried them at the Mike Lull shop and Spencer really liked them so I thought I'd...

Brought my (new to me) L1000 with a fresh set of flats on it to band rehearsal yesterday. What a great instrument in terms of feel, tone and overall vibe. Absolutely loving it! This one is definitely staying in the rotation!!

Do the new Ricks all come without the bridge pickup cover? Is the thumb rest standard now?

Thanks for your comments and I'll listen for that. But do you think that the short scale contributes to the lack of focus you are hearing? I also think that the Dunlops are kind of unique. I first heard/tried them at the Mike Lull shop in Bellevue and agreed with Spencer that they were really...

    G&L Club Part 7

My love affair with my L1K continues but has possibly reached a new level with flatwounds! I put a set of Dunlop String Lab flats on and I think it's a match made in heaven. It arrived with D'Addario nickels which I don't mind, though they aren't my favorite strings. I usually opt for DR True...

    GR Bass review

I'm still loving, as is my back, the 210V and 112 that I have. Most times I just take the 210 out as it's usually plenty loud for me, the band and the sound person. As for durability, yes I baby them more than a "traditional" cabinet with covers and care, but that's a small price for one trip...
