    Stingray String Dissatisfaction

So... I listened through isolating headphones, and realized that a great deal of the sound I don't like doesn't actually get amplified, and is due to the fact that I mostly play at low volumes where the unamplified tone is competing with the amplified one. I also discovered that my amp (210...

    Stingray String Dissatisfaction

A VLE would definitely be nice to have... I played a stingray through a LMII at Guitar Center, and it really added a good amount of thump. So it looks like the solution to fixing a $30-50 string problem is to buy a $500 amp... :smug: Maybe I should make some sort of string-fix-o-matic low pass...

    Stingray String Dissatisfaction

Beginning at the beginning, a few months ago, I strung my Stingray with Chromes, initially to see if it would reduce the quiet G string problem that so many 'Rays seem to have, and ended up really liking them after being critical for a few years. Months went on, and I realized that they didn't...

Fodera owners - strange smelling case?

I've got a hard case for my Michael Kelly, and its smell is surprisingly close to carrots pulled fresh from the garden... it's a little unnerving, but really not too bad.

    strings for Stingray?

I have D'Addario Chromes on my Stingray. Flats on a Stingray (or anything) seem pretty uncommon, and I was dubious at first, but the more I use them, the better I think it sounds.

    Aria Pro II Knowledge?

I stumbled across [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] and from what I've seen, people swear by their Arias. As someone unexperienced in these ways, could some light be shed on what kind this might be? Looks to me somewhat like an SB-900.

My Micro POG quits on me!

    1) Both outputs act the same without power, bypassed or not, no signal. 2) The world of bypass is uncharted territory for me. I know how true bypass works, but that's about it. Aye, no power, no sound. I've actually been pretty unimpressed with the Micro POG, no true bypass, and it...

My Micro POG quits on me!

Exactly, if it's true bypass, when unpowered and engaged, your signal is "killed", and when unpowered and disengaged, your clean, pure, unfiltered, mountain-spring-fresh signal passes through unscathed by the effect. I haven't had any signal pass through either output while unpowered. ...or...

My Micro POG quits on me!

From my experience with mine, the mPOG isn't true bypass. If that were the case, it would bypass even with the power unplugged and be (effectively) a killswitch pedal, right? Because it doesn't do that.

    My new rig, OVERKILL???

Overkill? Not in the least... By the way, what's that guitar? Weird but intriguing.

(MANY PICS) The evolution of the Squier P

Yeah, the routing isn't great, but it's my first time, and all I had was a chisel and drill press.

(MANY PICS) The evolution of the Squier P

Don't do it like I did unless you have a sanding block. It's an awful way to do it, but "Jaco did it that way" so I had to as well... I built a tape barrier around the edge using blue masking tape (don't use this, epoxy leaks through, use some plastic tape instead). I haven't personally done...

(MANY PICS) The evolution of the Squier P

Some of my lessons learned are: 1. something's masking the paint, you don't know what or where it is, but something is 2. some paint is a solvent for itself, BE CAREFUL WHEN WIPING IT 3. don't overdo it 4. a chisel is a valuable tool, don't underestimate it's power That's all for now. And...

(MANY PICS) The evolution of the Squier P

Thanks Jared! Gregg: The fret pullers and the pickups were the most expensive, about 40 for the pullers, as they had to be ground flush and 100 for the pickups. The epoxy for the neck was probably about 15 and the paint was probably about 12. Overall, I'd say I paid as much for mods as I did...

(MANY PICS) The evolution of the Squier P

I forgot to mention that this is my first paint job. I also did some alligator clip sound testing, and it sounds great. Does anyone have any suggestions for controls (what, where, and how) with minimal or no drilling?
