    D.I.Y. Home made pick ups.

Hi Folks. Twiddling my thumbs during this lockdown we're all on and was wondering about making my own pick ups. Have built a few basses in my time and always thought about making bass pick ups. Seen a few vids on it, but as usual it's mostly people making tele and strat ones. Just wondered if...

Where you "drafted" to play bass or enlist ?

Started off on guitar when I was about 14, then I heard "Master of the Universe" by Hawkwind with that amazing, rhythmical bass line. I said to my friend "I love that amazing guitar sound!" He said "That's not a guitar, it's a bass. It's only got four strings and you don't play chords!" I was...

    Black'n'Decker 1960's Rickenbacker

just been asked to stick some pics up of the build. ( The picture quality is not very good as my poor phone is getting a bit old. As my daughter says; "Do you have to wind the film on by hand in your phone!") The first shot was done after the body wings were glued and the sash clamps were...

    Black'n'Decker 1960's Rickenbacker

Thanks. Just a bog standered one truss rod. I know what you mean about Rick spare parts. The double truss rods retail at about £100 in the uk where a single is about £10! (And prob does a better job too.)

    Black'n'Decker 1960's Rickenbacker

Thought I'd share some pics of my latest build. A copy of a early 1960's 4001s. After completing and upgrading a Bulldog Rick copy kit, I thought I could do something a little closer to the original. (Through neck, thinner body, and 33.25" scale length for starters.) Being just a 'bloke in a...

    Wenge fretboard

I've read somewhere it's a real pig to cut into and fret? I've only made a few fretboards in my time and have only used good ol' rosewood. Will I struggle?
