Catastrophe at rehearsal...lesson learned: BOSS GT-6B

I had a clean patch, a compressed clean with a touch of scoop, a chorused clean, a driven pick style sound, a NIN patch (octave and heavy drive for "bites the nd that feeds"), a beasie boys "sabotage" patch, etc. And many of those were set up to have different settings/patches for my P and J...

Catastrophe at rehearsal...lesson learned: BOSS GT-6B

25 years?!?!?! That thing should be gilded and set in a shadowbox for going above and beyond! I had a 6B years ago, good unit, but went the separate pedals route when I stopped doing cover stuff. Pondering an MS3 these days for my guitar rig....

    Did people sleep on Tech21?!

When the 500 first came out I had issues where they would cut out mid note on stage. DI worked fine, but the sound to the cabs went "poof". I went through two, and then shifted to a TH500, then ended up just sticking with my old LM2. I have a Leeds pedal, and love that thing, the VT500 just...

Approximating a B-15 cab with EQ: parameters?

    this story remains evergreen XD

Approximating a B-15 cab with EQ: parameters?

Spot on. I had the luxury to A/B a 65 (double baffle) with a 70s model (Thiele cab). Ran the heads into each others cabinets as well. The baffle cab has THAT sound, but ended up vastly preferring the thiele sound. No low end choke, gives one a bit more headroom. My current "small" rig is an EBS...

Recording bass guitar vs 6 string electric guitar: does bass guitar need amp/cab sim, IR etc?

THIS!!! Booked the whole day, we spend an hour setting up and micing the drums, another hour getting guitar sounds, each trying multiple mics and configurations. Bass takes like 5 minutes of line check. Then drums need punch ins, guitar needs over dubs and solos, I get each bass track in 1-3...

What am I missing? (Hardware Recommendation / Problem Confirmation)

Stingray likely is just plain louder than your old bass. Check your input meters (if available) or your waveforms in your DAW and see if its overdriving the input. Then pad the input and repeat. If may also be your headphone amp, Im running into this issue with my Focusrite, but mostly on...

    Khan VTDI output question

I find the Khan does have a hot output, and usually its padded at the DI (-6Db) and padded at the interface end (Focusrite 18i20), and still has to stay under 9 oclock or so on the gain. But it sounds great, so....

Fender Player II Jazz Bass Limited-Edition...Oxblood and British Racing Green

Random- put Dimarzio Area J's in greenie, big upgrade. The stock pickups were very bright, but not in a pleasant way IMO. The Areas do what they say they'll do, which is tighten bass, make the highs a bit softer, and really focus on the mids. And of course silent, which is great.

Fretless: sound difference between Ebonol and wood?

Thanks! The wood "zero fret" idea is interesting, I wonder if 10 years later his basses need repair on those? But "0.010" is wee, thatll be fun.

Fretless: sound difference between Ebonol and wood?

I have a Sire fretless, and I think the nut is also cut for fretted. Any insight as to nut slot depth measurements off the fretboard one would want?
