It's not bad actually, not much neck dive at all. Could probably use a good setup so I will drop her off to my luthier next week for a string change and inspection. Massive B string sound on this bass, actually a bit uneven at present compared to the higher strings, so might need pickup...

Yeah I hear this - had to get rid of my fav bass (Roscoe JJ5) two years ago due to being almost 60 and having developed arthritis. Switched to an Ibanez SR2605 last year and it is much lighter. I still pickup my Sadowsky on occasion as well, but she's a bit heavy in comparison.

Do you know what sort of venues this band will be playing? i.e.: will you even need a large amplifier onstage? I got this SR2605 about one year ago now and I love everything about it except for the luminescent side dots they put on these basses. Just got this beauty to make my Sadowsky RV5 jealous (occasionally - she knows she's still my #1). Had my eye on one of these for awhile but was waiting for a good price before pulling the trigger. £1200 in the end. Well worth the money. Lovely bass.

This beauty sat on a shelf in my local shop for two years when I lived in Canada. One day I had enough money saved to possibly buy it. I went down to the shop... it had been sold the day before. So yeah, the Ken Smith BSR5 would be my "one that got away". *sniff

Just my two cents... Whatever overdrive they're using is probably only for their own ears either through an amp onstage or in-ears. I highly doubt that an Elevation or Hillsong FOH soundperson would want your pedal affected bass signal coming through the mains. So just go with whatever pedal...
