    Ibanez BTB Club, Part 2!

I'd say the aguilar is definitely louder, which is a nice feature for me switching between active/passive. I would also say it's more transparent and doesn't really color the tone too much, boosting lows and mids sound very dynamic, where as the ibanez I feel sounds a bit compressed and kind of...

    Ibanez BTB Club, Part 2!

i recently picked up this 1606dtf. What an incredible instrument. Also came with an Aguilar obp-3 preamp installed which the buyer did not mention (bonus). The playability, balance, sound and looks are all fantastic. I love this thing

    Who played Rickenbackers with flatwounds?

Phil lynott on the first few thin Lizzy albums. Also supposedly Al cisneros uses flats, but I've had a hard time confirming.

    Dingwall/Multi-Scale LIGHT Strings

Also kalium (circle k) makes a 114. And you can make a custom set of whatever gauge you want

    Dingwall/Multi-Scale LIGHT Strings

The D and G strings from any normal long scale set are still long enough to work, so you can make your own hybrid set by just swapping those out for something lighter You could also try going super light with paysons Drop D set. The 110 may seem less floppy if you do the full light set/ raise...

Been away for some years.. after selling all gear and bass. Back and wanting some thoughts/experience on amps.

I've heard great things about the new quilter bass block. After using a ton of different class D, solid state and tube heads I've settled on the orange terror. I have the older 1000 watt and the newer 500 watt. They're both excellent. The 1000 watt is ridiculously loud and has endless clean...

Old injury combined with increasing age

Light weight basses with strap buttons located to the back or lower horn can help get the bass into an almost vertical position, leaving both shoulders and wrists in a kind of neutral playing position. I've had luck playing thunderbirds when dealing with quervains tenosynovitis in my fretting hand.

    Offical B.C. Rich Club!

Here are a few I used to own. Both were mahogany neck/body wings, dot inlays and less paul style wiring. I eventually modified each with neal moser harness. Still sad I got rid of that mockingbird

    The Rickenbacker Club Part Twelve

The babicz design is meant to replace only the bridge saddles and use the stock tailpiece, so if the stock bridge has tail lift the babicz will not help anything. Has anyone used the babicz saddles? I've always been curious but they're kinda pricey and rarely ever pop up used.

    The Rickenbacker Club Part Twelve

The Hipshot clovers are actually too long/stick out really far, but that's purely an aesthetic preference. They make mini clovers that people put on thunderbird basses, but they're hard to source and very expensive. The Y tuners also happen to be a few grams lighter than the clovers. For the...

    The Rickenbacker Club Part Twelve

I had to route a little bit out. The neck and toaster were sourced separately, but they are both from late 80s/early 90s and both super hot, the neck is 13k and the bridge is about 14k. Sounds very heavy. Also has Hipshot ultralites on it and an allparts bridge.

    The Rickenbacker Club Part Twelve

Here's my 2011 4003 at practice last night I've experimented with all sorts of pickup/wiring/bridge/aesthetic mods since I've owned it, but I think it's in its final form now. I love this bass!

    The Rickenbacker Club Part Twelve

I'd look closely for a loose connection somewhere in the harness or under the bridge pickup. Rick uses a lot of thin wire with numerous grounding points, and I've definitely on multiple occasions knocked some wires loose swapping out pickguards/trebel bezels etc. Sometimes it's as simple as...
