Offical B.C. Rich Club!

I would love to find my 1980 Eagle, which I stupidly sold in 1982 to buy things that I didn't need but thought I did at the time. I don't have a serial number or any way of tracking it down. It's a now-40-year dream which will sadly, probably not come true.

It's a natural gloss finish Eagle, which I purchased new in 1980 from Willcutt Guitars in Lexington, Ky. I sold it to some music store in Red Bank, NJ which is long defunct.

I think I might give Bob Willcutt a call and ask if he has any records of the purchase.. I'll report back.
Any pics? What woods/finish was it?

No pics of mine. It would have looked like the web picture below. It was a natural gloss finish.

I have heard back from Willcutt Guitars, and they do not have any remaining records from the 80's, as I expected.

Just wondering what the deal is with these Warlock's from Japan on Ebay? The deals seem inexpensive and they do list serial number pictures from the back of the headstock. However, that seems like an impossible task to decipher in general with most BC's anyway. I've been intrigued with some of these, but I'm doubting the authenticity. Looks more like a Burny headstock than anything I've seen BC Rich use. Always wanted a Warlock, but would actually want an authentic one. Figured I'd be able to come here for some help since Google searches came up empty.

Most are cheap junk, Chinese imports and what not.
I have a USA Warlock up in the classifieds, the imports are BCR in name only

Couple new additions

1984 Wave, guy hit me up on here, made a deal happen, great bass, been enjoying her

1982 Mockingbird, guy hit me up on Facebook marketplace, weird part is this was my old bass, sold it in 2017 to Kebos in NJ, he bought it and it has been local since, he had no idea it used to be mine, I regretted selling and he drove it down from Portland to my front door
I'm so glad you found your Mockingbird!

Now if I could just find my Eagle..

Hey folks, this is a specific ask, but does anyone have a lead on where I could find a Gold, Platinum, or Diamond Series Ironbird bass? I got to try one and for whatever reason, those series have a feel with the Ironbird that I much prefer over USA or most NJ, and especially over the new stuff. Any clue? So hard to find. Helps if the price is good. But I'd imagine a lot of Gold, Platty, or Diamond would be pretty affordable in price aside from the shape.

Hi all, new bass owner here. I had the fortune to discover a neighbor of mine had a 1978(ish) BC Rich Mockingbird bass in his closet for who knows how long. He bought it in 1978 or so. I now own it and it's great! Aside from some usage dings, it's in pretty good shape. I don't know if the knobs are original or not.

I'm in the process of troubleshooting the pre-amp. I just put a battery in it last night, and it made it super quiet. Being new to the bass world, I didn't wrap the battery so I'll do that tonight as a test to see if it's shorting out.

The serial number is 80XX4 and after reading the article on the BCRich site, I don't know exactly what year it was actually made. Could have been 77-79 from what I deciphered.

Can anyone confirm that the body is koa wood with maple stripes? It seems like the options then were koa or maple.

Here's an unexpected turn of events. I have always found the Hi-As in my Bodine darker than I'd normally like, and realized there was also a quality in the mids I didn't like. Remembering how much I hated the D'Addario Pro Steels on my Thunderbird because of how scooped they sounded, I tried them the other day on my Bodine and boom, great tone. I think it sounds best with the varitone at the first position, facing 12:00. Can't wait to try this with the band.

Varitone at the 1st position is off
