I've got to find a short horn for sale that is hopefully reasonably priced.
Not an easy task, shorthorns seem to be the rarest of the 3 common Mockingbird shapes.

Almost tempts me to have a facebook account. I wish there were a more neutral place to have it. My 1976 lefty Bodine is a cool one.

Has anyone seen any other lightweight tuning machines for the 1976s besides the Schaller M4S. While they work, I severely dislike them, but the stock elephant ears ones were super heavy. They're the ones that have those two pegs in the back.
Only thing I have ever used as replacement are Grover wavys, you can fill the little peg holes with wood filler as the screw holes on Grovers line up

Probably no weight savings however

Thanks. I hadn't considered that, filling in the holes and drilling. I really wanted to avoid having to drill into the '76 Bodine, but it would help with playability, so I should probably just get over it. I saw there's a set of Gotoh RES-O-LITEs (GB528) that look similar, other than having clover tuners, but the spacing seems to be a little wider than stock (15mm vs 17mm). I'm in no rush, so I'll look around with the thought of your idea.
