Theres someone on ebay selling a 90s US neck through ironbird refinished in pink crackle for $7.5k. Is that a realistic number? I see some other US custom shop basses go for less than half of that, and mine was a bit under $3k all things considered
No where near that IMHO.
Its maybe a 2k bass with a Lee Garver refinish that likely cost a grand. He's had it for sale for a few years now, he started at 4k and raises it every so often

Chased this fella for 15yrs. Made for the Musikmesse show in Frankfurt Germany in 1982 (basically a European NAMM). Fell in love with it via an old Japanese website, had no idea where it lived or even if it still existed. Recently found at a small music store on the East Coast. She has come to her forever home. My all time favorite BCR bass

Congrats! Gorgeous!

I've still never seen anyone (other than myself, occasionally) play a Mockingbird out live (except maybe on TV in the 80's). I know they have some popularity and I certainly enjoy mine but you just don't ever see them in the wild. I always get positive comments on both looks AND tones when I do play mine out, from both musicians and non musicians alike. Mine's a Mock Heritage Classic and a solid player in it's own right though supposedly nothing (or so I've read) like the originals. I'd love to own an original but I'd 1) first have to even find one to check out, and 2) be willing/able to swallow the asking price. If no one is actually playing them, how about hooking a brother up with one they're just not playing at a reasonable, affordable (non collectors) price. :woot: I'll represent!

I played my Mockingbird out for a while a few years back whenever I need a 5 string. It’s stupid light at about 7.5lbs. with a solid bottom end due to the active pre I pulled from my Mockingbird Classic.
If I recall correctly you also have a red 8-string you modded from a Heritage Classic four. Way cool!

Edit - Oops, beat me to it!

Also digging that bound body four stringer. I play mine with the mid 70's - mid 80''s classic rock band I'm in, so it's period correct for the music we do. Though in honesty, these days I mostly gig out with my Sadowski's.

That’s the bass on the right in the above pic.

So this one is an oddball

Latt Combs ran the BCR wood shop south of the border and Jorge Pasaye built them

Around 82 Latt started his own brand " LPC "

This is the "Scorpion"

Very BCR for obvious reasons, it was built along side them

Looks to be koa under the paint

Bill lawrence pickups, Badass bridge

Factory lined fretless

Have seen a handful of guitars but not another bass

Latt died around 25yrs ago, Jorge still builds his own instruments

Found online at GC who had no idea what they had
