    Should I do just one note for each note of the cycle of fourths? or should I, for example, play each note three times for triplets, four for sixteenths, etc?

    What would you suggest to someone who uses a three finger technique (index, middle, and ring)? How about if someone was to use the ring finger only occasionally, for the odd 16th note triplet, every few bars or so?

It's always easy to say "without X person, X field would be like this", but really we have no idea what would have happened.     Thanks for insights, that was interesting. I'm just about to receive my first stick, and I think I can agree with your sentiments. A lot of guys seem to go into it with the idea that "Great, I can now play a bass line and a guitar solo at the same time!". IMO, this isn't a very helpful attitude...
