    NGD: 1977 Fender Telecaster Bass!

Here is the black '77 Telecaster counterpart to match your black '77 Telecaster Bass. I changed out the b/w/b guard shortly after I bought it in the 1980s because I preferred the look of an earlier w/b/w guard against the black finish.

Beware of the eBay seller “gibsondependable”

Over the past year, I had purchased a few parts--jack cup/assembly, strap buttons, old Fender neck shim--for a Telecaster I'd been restoring. I was familiar with his reputation, but these purchases were hassle-free. Then a month or two ago I was the high bidder on a black leather Fender skinny...

How Did Fender Cut Truss Rod Notch in Guards?

Mine is actually a Telecaster pickguard, and amazingly, I cannot find anyone to please take my money and cut the notch in a similar style to how Fender did it.

How Did Fender Cut Truss Rod Notch in Guards?

Hello-- Does anyone know Fender's method for notching out the truss rod slot on their 3-ply pickguards back in the 1960s? Would it have been done with a half-round bastard file? Thanks...

    Fender mint green pickguard history

Like someone said earlier, it seems some of the reproduction companies tend to go overboard "minting out" their guards. Here is the original w/b/w nitro guard on my 100% factory '64 Mosrite bass.

Cool bass; looks like one of the earlier ones. By late '65 they went to two pickups, the straight white/non-green guard, "M" knobs, and the goofy (IMHO) duck-foot tuners in lieu of Klusons. La Bella flatwounds are the way to go, and I particularly like the sound of these single-pickup basses.

Bridge cover is upside-down on the red/white/blue piece.

I love Mosrite basses from the mid-60s, especially the earlier single-pickup issues. This one was custom-ordered silver in late 1964.

    Replacement Case Handle?

I should have realized my limitations here. I successfully removed the axle pins with just a needle nose; I figured I was home free. Getting ready to put the new/old handle into place and re-peen the axle pin heads, I thought I would "adjust" each of the two slightly-bent bracket tabs in a dour...

    Replacement Case Handle?

Thanks Matt-- I appreciate the clarification. In a perfect world, I would like to take a dremel tool/small grinder and remove just enough of the mushroomed end of the pin (circled in red) in order to slide it out. Once the new handle is in, I would like to then put the pin back, and...

    Replacement Case Handle?

Thanks Matt & Bruce-- If I am understanding correctly, I will be able to remove the small 3/4" steel rivet-bar between each bracket, which will allow me to keep the current brackets? By contrast, the 1960s Fender case underneath the brown Mosrite case in question does not have this option...

No respect, I tell ya. No respect.
