I received this ultra cool bass last week as part of a trade and thought I would share!
I didn't relalize these existed - essentially this is the bass version of the old 70's Telecaster Custom (the one Keith Richards used, with the wide range humbucker in the neck).
I strung it up with Labella White Nylon Tapewounds when I got it - and wow, it sounds really excellent! One thing I was expecting was that I would be super muddy and dull sounding (especially with flats on it), but it was the opposite, very alive sounding, and with an incredibly high output. I compared it to the Tim Commerford Stingray (passive) that I just got, and the Tele bass is way hotter!
Enjoy some pics below - and if you want to know how it sounds, I also recorded a demo video of me playing Brandi Carlile's 'Broken Horses' (a song I love, and also a song I needed to learn anyway for a jam this Friday!) - further to the point on hotness I made above, I needed to stuff the bridge with some foam to mute the tone a little, as well as rolling the tone back a bit - never thought I would have to do that with a Tele bass!
