First, I'd just like to say I've really enjoyed the past week I've been on this forum. I'm suprised how active it is, and the information and debates are great - I dont know how many ten page threads I've read so far! But onto my rant. There are a few things that really annoy me: People...

Was gunna vote for the Smiths...until I saw the Stooges. One of, if not *the* most influential bands in that poll. Someones gunna shoot me, but I think the Stooges spawned more bands, from bad to good, nobodies to somebodies, then someone like Geddy Lee has.

Hmmm, I didn't mean to add to a Cliff/Jason/Rob debate. However, the idea of a Newstead autobiography does interest me - even if I don't like the guy, I can appreciate some of the stories he'd surely have to tell.

While I dont personally use a pick (I';m not saying that as if I'm some how superior to pick players) my favourite pickers would be (in no order) Paul McCartney, Paul Simonon, Martyn P. Casey and I think Alexander Hacke uses a plectrum too.

I really dont see the appeal to Jason. With Cliff being one of my biggest influences when I was starting bass (I didn't like metal until I heard Cliff), hearing Newstead afterwards was just a real let down on the playing side - in terms of personality, I haven't seen anything appealing there...

I hate to drag up old posts, but a year or two on from when this thread started and there hasn't been any improvment. Even the Epiphone line has gone stale. Gibson seems to be content with releasing 'signature' models. I guess the rational is that they were big in the 60's...the people that grew...

Hmmm...The Mexican idea doesnt sound to bad, there's nothing better then owning a customized bass. Anyone know a rough figure for how much fret removal would cost? Though I'm sure prices would vary considerably. Thanks for your help everyone.

Given I'm still relativley young and have little to no income, I obviously dont have anything anywhere near as cool or impressive as some of the people here, but I do enjoy what I have. My Yamaha is my Milenium Falcon - a piece of shite in the grand scheme of things, but it can still suprise you.
