    What strings are those?

Hi Michael! Thanks for the answer, with "a role" I mean that the bass sounds very well also thanks to those strings, that's why I am trying to figure out which brand/model they are. The ball ends are silver and their shape is sort of "octagonal" since the edges of the cylinder balls are not...

    What strings are those?

Can you give me your guess on these strings? The bass sounds amazing, and I suspect they have a role in it. Thank you! Note the octagonal shaped end-pin. Just bare string on the other end.

Am I Crazy? Choosing Road Worn P Bass over American Standard...

Great news! I am happy for you, it is important to find an instrument you really like. What about the tuners and frets, do they keep well with seasons? I am considering buying a 2012 mim jazz rworn, it feels great as you said, but the frets do not look perfectly uniform inside the fingerboard...

Double Bass Recording comparison betweenMinimark and ParaDriver

Hi Martin, Thank you for your feedback, I have lived in Copenhagen for 18 months a couple of years ago, beautiful city, I would not mind moving back there again. At that time I was traveling a lot by plane with the MKfly. To me the Paradriver sounds nicer, a little compressed, and with the...

Double Bass Recording comparison betweenMinimark and ParaDriver

Hi Guys, I hope you are doing fine. The quarantine brings me to experiment during the long weekends. Here you have a small EUB demo (Contrabbassi MK, mod. Studio Fly), recorded at the same time in 3 different ways: 1) Using a MarkBass Minimark miced with a Zoom H1n in stereo frontal direction...

Misterious reverse shimming on a mustang bass, what should I do?

Interesting, in proportion have you found more ski jumps on US, MEX, MIJ, o Squire Fenders? Lownote, do you usually make partial shims? Best, Fabio

Misterious reverse shimming on a mustang bass, what should I do?

You are right Richard, the break angle is a bit at the limit, it may benefit from a little shimming. The guy probably did it for the same reason, but in a very bad way. That metal plate was digging the wood inside the pocket. Do you think a 0.25° angle may be OK? A full woody ramp Like this...

Misterious reverse shimming on a mustang bass, what should I do?

Back again, I set up the instrument. I removed the shim, cleaned the fretboard, fixed the pickup to the body, and setup action and harmonics. The bridge saddles are a bit to the endpoint for both action and harmonics, but the instrument is in tune, the action feels good, no excessive buzzes or...

Misterious reverse shimming on a mustang bass, what should I do?

That could actually be a point, cause the harmonics are completely out of tune, so it needs in any case a complete setup. The shim was also badly placed, with a border bent by one of the screws :rollno:. I'll set it up completely and check out if the shim is needed.

Carpal Tunnel & Fretting Hand Technique

The carpal tunnel syndrome can come from excessive bending of the wrist, but you can recuperate totally. To relax that part you can keep the bass a bit higher and closer to your chest, with the elbow a bit more backward, always straight back and relaxed shoulders. To pass the inflammation...

Misterious reverse shimming on a mustang bass, what should I do?

Hi everyone, I have recently bought a 2nd-hand mustang bass from a local shop. I have noticed that the neck pocket was shimmed with a thin metal plate so I am making a check during cleaning session. Look at the photos here, it is a partial reverse shim, the job doesn't look top notch. I guess...
