Yeah a refund is your best bet with MXR. I contacted them about repairing a Carbon Copy and they wanted to charge more than I could get a good condition used one for.

Next time you get strings, make sure to get a tapered B. In fact I'd do that now, as I doubt that string is making proper contact with the bridge.

I remember back in my day (here comes and old man rambling!) there were tons of oddball string brands out there, and EVERY ONE of them offered double ball strings for Steinberger. As proven here by Trace Elliot, but they did have a headless bass in the 90's. But I had 3-4 Steinbergers back then...

And here's the 12 next to a Kappalite. And I'm in no way saying that these speakers are the same, because they are not. I have experience with both. All I'm saying is that the BF drivers are made by Eminence.

No they are definitely Eminence. Here's the 10. You can see the Eminence sticker right on it, plus it takes about 1 second to recognize it as an Eminence even without the sticker.

I completely forgot about the B&C buyout! They also hired one of the main engineers away from Celestion so he's at Eminence now. Their China plant has been going for a while though. They opened that so they could more easily supply the Made In China amps/cabs like Fender and Epiphone and the like.

In that case he shouldn't have hinted that Barefaced has delays because they use overseas drivers, then list USA companies to look at instead.... who use drivers overseas to the USA.

Not to nitpick, but Barefaced uses USA made Eminence drivers. A couple of the USA based companies you mentioned actually use overseas drivers, made in Italy.

Carvin strings were in fact LaBella's.
