For some reason she just went crazy viral. Check out her rendition of Joan Manuel Serrat's "Mediterraneo", for those flamenco vibes I referred to. If you know the original version, then her sound makes perfect sense.

I would suggest trying to isolate the issue first. Maybe you can connect the pickups directly to an output jack to determine if the preamp is faulty. In that case, a pickup swap would not help

I absolutely love her. At a clinic she actually mentioned she considers herself a guitarrist, that picked up the bass to be able to get some percussive sounds while playing harmony. She mentioned also that she studied flamenco guitar for years. That also makes a big part of her sound / approach.

I'm finishing the first one of the Friedland's book, and even though I'm not a hardcore jazzer, I kinda agree with the comments above. I think It's a great compromise, tho. Maybe using a more strict jazz vocabulary would probably make the learning curve steeper. At least from my point of view...

Actually, i wouldn't rule out the possibility that they still exist in some third world country. Living in a third world country, I know they very likely lasted longer here. But no more, at least in this province, they're digital.
