I've used springs out of dollar store clicker pens. You'd probably need to trim them to be the correct length, but it works.

I am interested in getting a GSR205/b or GSR206/b, because they have routes for the EMG 40/45s. I am looking for something with modern sounds, and really want to put some EMG DCs into a bass. Does anyone have any thoughts on the 205s or 206s? Is the quality good enough? I like the tighter string spacing compared to 19mm, and like the idea of a light weight instrument (and the PRICE).

Since you'll be replacing the electronics the only other thing that you might end up replacing is the machine-heads, I've had a LOT of trouble with Soundgear machine-heads:

Can anyone compare the SR650e to the Premium line with the Nordstrand Big Singles? I played a SR2600 and really like it, but am trying to determine how much of a build quality difference there is between these models. Thanks!
The difference in the Premium is worth the money IME, the neck is reinforced & they come with the GOTOH machine-heads.
One of the other issues I've had with Standard Soundgear is the flimsy necks.
Ironically, the GIOs have a thicker neck & not an issue.

Thanks again! I really need to get out and play more, but it's hard since all of the GCs are closed. I would have been out demoing things for the last month! Those 350s seem like a good investment if I ever moved up to a Gecko. I'll make sure to play some premiums when I can demo again. That is a good thing to consider about the thicker neck of the Gio, I was always looking at that as a downside. I always liked my soundgears when I had them, not sure why I got rid of them, but I'm happy to have another one!
I have the 5 string version of the next model up from the SR650e, the SR755NTF. I think the necks are the same, mine has no reinforcement rods and settled quite ok in a climate where we go from -5 C to over 45 every year. I tested both and thought the 755 was a level up in quality and much preferred the feel. I replaced the tuners with Res-O-Lites and the rear pickup with a Nordstrand Big Split made for these basses. I much prefer the sound to big singles as, to my ears, there is a good P tone, a tone that is very J bass but Ruth more meat and a whole gamut in between - I even get pretty close to the G&L kiloton sound without even using the active settings.

Of all the bass in the Ibanez Bass Workshop series, only the SRF706 I regret the most that Ibanez isn't allowing this particular model being sold in the country where it is being built.
my srt800dx has a dead eq too. i forget if it's the treble or bass but 2 out of the 3 ibanez i've owned with the vari mid 3 band eq have had one of the three controls not working.Well, my family grew today.
