thanks guys, glad you like what you hear!
Yeah, the ultimate drive was quite a surprise when hearing it recorded in proper conditions. In a live/rehearsal setting, it does sound ok, but it's a kinda on/off thing: either not loud enough, and then not very distinct, or just way too freaking loud...
Hey guys,
here's a tune from our latest recording where you can hear both the American Sound (on all the time, I use it for preamp / tone shaping) and the ultimate drive (starting at 6'). Both pedals are killers !
I use a Sire MM V7 5 strings.
Hey thanks, glad you guys like what you hear.
And yeah, I'm French (sacrebleu), but my job has me writing / speaking English on a daily basis.
Anyway, that bass is just great. A bit on the heavy side, but man, does it sound hot!
Hey there,
got a V7 sunburst alder 5er (numbered 882):
I've rewired the pickups in parallel for more JB/P versatility (I usually restrict myself to the bridge pickup for a JB sound). The result can be heard here:
BTW, we've released our first recording (see also this thread)! You can...
Hey guys, we've just released the first ever official (ie good quality) recording of my band, Les Pamplemousses Ethyliques!
It's available on Bandcamp.
Here's one of the tunes, "TrankoPiré":
For gearheads (aren't we all?), I used a modified Sire Marcus Miller V7 5 strings, and Joyo effects...
Hey guys,
I just recently finished working on the restoration of my very first teenager bass, a Taiwan-made Yamaha BB300 (probably early-mid 90's). It has spent nearly a decade not being played at my parents place, and the last time I picked it up and played it, I realized that even unplugged...
Lukiluk, have you tried giving a bit of relief to the neck? The neck on mine was indeed way too straight when I took it out of the box.
Anyway, if the model you got is still available at thomann, maybe the simplest way is to have them exchange it!
Mine (v7 5 alder TS) is signed, and I believe it was one of the last available at thomann. However, it's also possible that they ship the basses in no particular order between signed and unsigned.
below is an answer I gave in a private message regarding the low B string, and more:
the low B is very tight, and has a lot of growl (which I find really cool), however, it can be a bit aggressive, depending on your style. Typically, if I start playing a riff one octave down on the B string, my...
Thanks guys, actually the only worrisome stuff would be the bump on the fretboard, but I'm still trying to figure out whether that's an issue or not.
The rest is honestly only minor cosmetic details, and the fact remains that these basses have an incredible value for their price.
I forgot to...
Hi fellas,
I'm a new guy around here, but I've been following this thread for a while, and finally hopped on the bandwagon and ordered a 5-string alder TS V7 on Thomann :
Out of the box, the first impression is indeed very nice : well-finished (except for a few mishaps, see below), not...
