Hey thanks, glad you guys like what you hear.

And yeah, I'm French (sacrebleu), but my job has me writing / speaking English on a daily basis.

Anyway, that bass is just great. A bit on the heavy side, but man, does it sound hot!

Your V7 sounds great, and nice playing as well.

Are you French, or an ex-pat? Your English is great, if you're not a native speaker. And even if you are ;)

It's been a while, but I played a week at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Room in Paris, (we played blues, not jazz though) -- I assume that's still there? Connected to the Hotel Meridien Etoile, IIRC.

I'm thinking of ordering a 5 STRING, but I want to try for the lightest weight possible. Which wood would be the lightest, ASH or ALDER? Plus what ever happened to the weight chart that was on their website?

I know that at some point in this thread I quoted the weight chart in full so I know it's in this thread somewhere (I stumbled across it while looking for something else the other day). Just not sure what page, but probably in the last 30 pages or so-- pg 220 to present. Not sure how they arrived at the weights in their chart-- did they weigh a bunch and average the results, or did they just pull one example of each, etc? Therefore I don't know for sure how your bass would compare the the bass weighed for their chart-- might or might not be the same.

It depends on what part of the tree is being used re: weight of ash; the bottom part of an ash tree found in swampy areas-- naturally called "swamp ash"-- is generally heavier than ash wood from upper parts of the tree, and is heavier than alder. So for Sires, the alder should be a little lighter than the swamp ash. Of course I am not an arborist so take this with a grain of salt. Someone else might have better info on this than me.

Thanks for that information. I think if I order one it will be alder.

Quick question: I ordered V7 and received an estimated ship dare of April 30. I haven't received a shipping notification yet. I'm just curious if anyone who had a similar estimated ship date has received confirmation yet. Thus is my first order from Sire, so just not sure what to expect re: shipping. Thanks.

Not a V7 so possibly different, but I ordered an M7 with an April 30th-May 7th ship date (as did a few others). None of us have gotten ship notifications yet, that I am aware of. I think when I ordered my V7 back in December, it shipped probably under a week after the estimated date but it can vary depending on model, location, backlog etc. Some have been shorter, some longer. Hopefully some of the other V7 "April 30th" people can let you know if they are getting notices.
