Lakland Basses... Lost their popularity? Where'd they go?

Current Mike Lull P4 pricing starts at $4,599, fwiw... another great and pricey option. I've never tried his basses, but I had a Gibson Howard Robert Fusion guitar that was re-fretted by Mike, and it had a phenomenal neck as a result.

    G&L USA LB-100 or Lakland USA 44-64?

Thanks for sharing your experience with them both. Whilst you likely are dead-on about the USA Lakland's uptick over the USA G&L, there sadly isn't a large array of used pickings of EITHER to choose from....sure there are some older G&L's out there but not many of recent mfg. I suppose this is a...

Lakland Basses... Lost their popularity? Where'd they go?

Not exactly an apples to apples comparison. Having said that, Dingwall does have some great innovations. I've never tried their instruments. Yet.

Bass sounding pretty good in a 45 watt guitar tube amp

"if it sounds good, it IS good."

    G&L USA LB-100 or Lakland USA 44-64?

For those with strong experience in both of these basses- So here I'm wanting to augment the studio here with a P-bass. I've never owned one before personally, yet am aware of all its accolades (justifiably) over the years. I do have a Lakland Skyline 44-60 (in my avatar pic ) that truly bests...

Enjoy!!! That’s exactly the next model and color I’m looking for, with the OEM P nut width. Play that thang in good health. Congratulations!!

Some of the Best P Bass replacement pickup(s)

So would you categorize the EMG GZR as a great P Bass pickup all-around, or strictly for his genre of music? The fact that it’s a well spoken of pickup, and a passive EMG at that, has me curious. Aside from that, the DAllen pickup has my attention…I’ve not personally encountered either, yet.

Just when I was about to ask for some Lakland “P” bass content… very cool. I’m really wanting to add a 44-64 to the toolbox. Yes I know you can get close with a Jazz (and I really like my 44-60 Skyline custom) but it’s not the same. Due to the pots and wiring, the sound isn’t the same a genuine...

"Parts Basses" The good news and the bad news.

I keep thinking about Lee Sklar’s mongrel parts bass….and all the world-class sessions with it…by a world-class player. Who cares about the pedigree of the bass?

Beautiful!! I used to have a Tom Anderson Quilted drop top that was my stage guitar for many years, in honeyburst- very similar in color. It’s name was Kitty-Kitty. Heehee. that’s a gorgeous bass!!!

This is a great tool to not only check preamp batteries, but those in pedals as well. I must acquire one.

FWIW, my Skyline 44-60 has an incredible neck. Rivals any Fenders I’ve played.

Thunderbird meets Flying V: Brooks UV

Stunning. As a guitarist I’ve had a few V’s over the years. Don’t know if I could do a Bass V. But what a build!
