What are - if any - the advantages of a string-thru set-up in your opinion? In a Telecaster (I've both a TL and a ST) the tighter break angle of the strings on the saddles makes the string-thru a better option. But, in a bass? Do the strings make the body vibrate more?

I see it's stringed as a toploader, but is a string-thru... I just wonder why. Is that true? Is it a 'double-face' bass?

My mystery "Spider" Jazz-clone (I'd say with an outlaw headstock shape...) which I got for 30 € three years ago. Set up was a disaster, and the idiot who owned it literally had tortured this little, sturdy bass. I fixed all the problems, and turned out as an honest instrument, with a VERY nice neck.

Mounted a Golden Age reverse-phase Jazz bridge pick up on my Squier P-bass. It's actually a P-bass special, so the out-of-phase effect doesn't happen since the neck pup is a split P-bass one, but the tone improved significantly. The stock pick up was a little bit flimsy (whle the neck 'brother'...

Those knots will simply remind you that you're handling a piece of WOOD...

I would mention my 2000 (=manufacturing year, not bucks...) Squier P-bass. It's actually a P-bass special, with both a Jazz bass neck + a a Jazz bass bridge pick up. Sturdy, comfortable, nice split coil P-neck pup.
