Double Bass What makes a successful lesson space?

Thanks! I hadn't even thought of that part yet.

Double Bass What makes a successful lesson space?

Hi all, I'm a college student and music education major looking at future living spaces. I'm wondering what sort of space is most conducive to giving lessons in - specifically in a home environment. What makes a space good? What doesn't? I'm looking to develop a living-room-esque area that...

Double Bass Typical procedure for flying with a bass?

I hadn't even thought of going by train! I'll have to check out train policies. (Again, any advice or knowledge is always appreciated.) And I was originally just talking about a double bass, but your post about your bass guitar is good too - I also have to find a good way to get my Fender...

Double Bass Typical procedure for flying with a bass?

Thank you! Is Delta a pretty good airline? I've heard good things about Southwest for shipping basses.

Double Bass Realist vs. Full Circle audio sample

Thank you for posting this! As a soon-to-be college student, I'm looking at different pickups, and this is exactly the kind of thing I need to hear. Thanks again!

Double Bass Typical procedure for flying with a bass?

I'm a high school senior from Washington State, and plan on flying down to Dallas, Texas in August of this year as I start attending UNT. I'm very new to shipping my bass any way other than comfortably in a car, and would like to ask which are your favorite airlines, favorite ways to take the...

    FS - Darkstarred Kramer 650b

    Oh gosh. I'm almost drooling.

    Re...making, pretty much. Help?

So I'll be the very first to admit I know next to nothing about fixing up/building any instruments, but I figured since I want to do a senior project on creating my own bass (an upright) I'd start on something simpler. I figured taking an old, beatup electric would be a good place to start...

Double Bass Bass Rental in Wash. State

Well, there are a few places down in southwestern Washington (where I'm from) but I think that might be a bit far. Seeing as I've never been to Walla Walla, I don't know the time it would take to get from one place to another, but I'm estimating a good 5 hours. And from here to Vancouver it's 45...

Double Bass So I'm new to this.

Hmmm...as far as the bow goes, it's all just a matter of preference. I for one absolutely love the German bow, and after four years of playing with one, it's really awkward for me to even try the French variation. But if you're going to try other stringed instruments as well, I would recommend...

Double Bass Help with some end pin issues?

Okay, thanks. And yeah, it's got about a foot and four inches in the bass, I think. As far as adjusting it...I've been told that the end pin shouldn't come out completely, though, so I haven't tried taking it out. Is that a standard thing?

Double Bass Help with some end pin issues?

And it'd be great if you could try and get back to me pretty soon. I have a six-hour rehearsal coming up around four hours from now in which I'm going to be using said bass.

Double Bass Help with some end pin issues?

Heya, I was just wondering if anybody might be able to give me advice on how to try and fix, or, if that's not possible, just deal with my school bass's end pin. It tends to rattle quite a bit whenever I play it, except for when the endpin is completely inside the bass; then it only happens...
