    Ever hear of Apocalyptica? They have a double-bassist. What were those old plastic bass guitars that were short scale and sold in Macy's in the 60s? Rondo or Tesco. THOSE are the worst bass for metal. You'd lose a finger with how sharp the frets are.

    I've seen them go for around $400 on craigslist. There was one for sale locally in Dallas about two months ago for that much exactly. I wouldn't go below 500, honestly. Start at 650 and ask them to meet you in the middle at 575
