    Music Stands on Stage

I use a tablet onstage so I have the setlist handy and I can refer to it if needed for chord changes, etc. I don't worry about it because I see bands televised on Palladia and VH1 using them all the time. If they can get away with it, why does it matter to anyone else? I DO try to be discreet...

Your main bass and the ones that came before

My main bass is pictured on my avatar, a 20th Anniversary Music Man 5HH. Second call bass is a Yamaha BBEast 5-string. Priors are a Stingray 5H, ESP Jazz Bass w/EMG's installed by me

Does anyone ever get annoyed with guitar pedals?

Guess I'm a grumpy old fart too. Nothing is more annoyng than musicians who are constantly "noodling" while others of us are trying to talk at rehearsals or at gigs. I played a five string today...

I play 5's because I like not having to play 1st position F,Bb, Eb, Ab. Those notes are so much richer when played at the 6th fret. I use a Tobias Classic 5, a Music Man Stingray 5, a Peavey cirrus 5, a Yamaha BBEAST 5, a Carvin LB75, a Carvin XB-75 or a Fender Jazz 5 and I have no problem with...

    approaching venues for booking

Nothing works better than a face-to-face with whoever does the booking, works even better if you order from the bar/grill while meeting. There are WiFi hot spots at most clubs, so make sure you bring a tablet so you can show your audio/video product to the person hiring. Having a good video...

The Real Reason Why Bands Play the Same Old Tired Covers

My band does covers of the "tired old" variety but we also throw in things that are outside the top 500 you hear on classic rock radio. We just throw stuff out there that we like and see what the people throw back. If they like an out-of-the-box song or arrangement, it stays.

Cut my finger and have gig Friday. Any ideas?

Neosporin on the cut, Band-Aid till day of gig. Use smallest possible Band-Aid to play the gig.
