    Musical Fruit

I’ve been a fan of his for years. Of course, his older stuff was better. That was when he played dried fruits. His work on figs was incredible! I even liked his ‘pitted fruit’ period. His ‘concept’ album, where he exclusively used vegetables wasn’t critically acclaimed, but had some good stuff...

Blend pot vs tone pot for tone control

I never liked the blend pot. I’d rather have control of my pups.

    I've lost interest in music.

Music isn’t mandatory. If you’re not in the mood, don’t hassle it. Sooner or later, you’ll want to play/listen to music. Unless you’re under contract, and have to play, why force it. That’s the great part of playing ‘for fun’, you only play when you feel like it. Keep it fun, don’t make it tedium.

Lyrics to Song's people just don't get Right

I never get the words right! I’m notorious for it. I never know what the hell they’re saying. Then again, it’s hard to know the lyrics when you’re listening to the drums and bass. Maybe that’s why I dig James Brown so much!

    Same strings on multiple basses?

Out of my five rock basses, three of them have Rotosound round wound nickels, 45-105. A P-bass w/ quarter pounders, a Jazz bass w/ custom shop pups, and an old MB4 with Duncan active p/j’s with the e.q. switches on the pups.

    TORT making attempt

The reason I ask, is because I have a C.V. P-bass with a fiesta red finish. But it looks more ‘Coral’, definitely a ‘pinkish’ hue. On a dark stage it looks almost blood red. I bought it as a clearance item, I only paid $165 for it. I know they sold it so cheap, because of the color. Most fiesta...

Is Bob Babbitt in the top five bassists of all time?

I have a couple of Jazz basses, almost everything seems like a step down after that! Gibson bass guitars are definitely a niche sound. But, like anything, they’re great for specific things.

Is the bass guitar on the left (fiesta red) a Squier C.V.?

Is Bob Babbitt in the top five bassists of all time?

You are thinking of the ‘Ripper’! Designed to ‘rip’ your face off! The first bass I owned. Pete played one, Gene played one, Suzy Quattro played one, and Louis Johnson even slapped on one! You’d be surprised at how many people recorded with Gibson’s. Remember, how a bass sounds by itself doesn’t...

Do any of you still haul around racks of PA effects?

Carrying around a ton of gear was never cool. Having someone else carry around a ton of gear for you was cool.

Is Bob Babbitt in the top five bassists of all time?

It depends on the type of music. You can’t compare players of a different style. I don’t think someone at a death metal show would dig Bob. But, for R&B, soul, type music yeah, I think he would be in it. J.J., the ‘Duck’, Jerry Jemott, Carol. As for my favorite bass guitar players, it depends on...

    New bass?

Watch out! Be careful what you say about punk. I got in trouble with the Mods, because I suggested that punk rockers put stickers on their basses and guitars. I noticed you show a ‘punk’ bass with stickers. Nice. Stickers on a bass: total punk rock move.
