SOLD Joseph A Vigneron Bass Bow [ex. Anton Torello ]

This was Johnny's favorite bow. I've played it hundreds of times back in the day! We'd be talking bows etc. and he'd say, "try the Vigneron!" every time, with a smile. (It was the only time I could see him smile. Certainly not during the lesson... ) This is as fine a French bow as one can want...

    Double Bass French bowhold cramp.

That's the best advice so far. The problem is really good French bow teachers are few and far between. To really be able to take apart someone's technique and put it back together is an art. I'm sure you are gripping the bow too tight -- even if you are sure you aren't! There are degrees of...

I've been following your search with interest. From what I can tell, you are doing all the right things. How was Ken's Prescott? I've had my eye on that one for some time. Hope you can still buy a bass after paying for all that gas... Tom

Double Bass Height of Human, Size of Bass

The height is only a factor if the bass is still too tall for her with the end pin all the way in. I wouldn't worry too much about any implications of "how much" end pin is sticking out or not. There are a million obscure and mysterious things effecting the tone of a bass. The end pin is just...

    Double Bass Grünert basses?

I know one Grünert very well. Pretty much the descriptions here have been very accurate. They are LOUD, the tone is ok and the finish is ugly (to me). Volume makes it good for orchestral work. Of course, personal preference and price make the final determination. Tom Furnari
