I have the same experience with my Ibanez GWB-1 5-string fretless. You can see small imprints of the strings on the ebony fingerboard, which you can feel with your fingernail, but minimally. No grooves, indeed. They're not roundwound, but DR nickelwound strings! greetings Fred the Netherlands

Sorry for my late reply, which didn't make it through to the app at the time. I play DR nickelwound strings on my Ibanez GWB-1 fretless. You can see some dents in the fingerboard, but they're not bothersome, and the sound is the most important thing. With flatwound or tapewound, I don't get the...
