Are roundwound strings bad for fretless?

Dan Erelwine uses superglue (cyanoacrylate or CA) to finish necks and fingerboards with. He defretted a maple MightyMite neck in a couple of issues of Bass Player a few months back. I do not recall which issues, but I do remember they were non-consecutive. They may have archived the columns on their website. I remeber him going into great detail.

Go for the sound you want and don't be afraid of normal wear. It's no different than your car tires gradually wearing out. If you're going to use a product, it's going to need maintenance somewhere down the line. If getting the tone you want means it will need maintenace a little sooner, so what?
