70s El Degas Alembic-copy bass: electronics help!

Thanks! I came across it in an old "for sale" ad over on Reverb.com where the seller had listed all of the details.

70s El Degas Alembic-copy bass: electronics help!

Thanks! I'll take a look at those links. Since posting I did come across Dave's video, and the "mad collector" thread -- all very helpful. Additional research has also revealed that the pick-ups are "wired with series/parallel switches for each pickup, a phase switch, 2 volumes, 2 tones, and a...

70s El Degas Alembic-copy bass: electronics help!

Hi all. Many years since I've posted here, but I've got a question that I know someone will know the answer to. I recently acquired a 70s era El Degas Alembic-copy with quite an array of switches! I got it as part of a gear swap/trade and don't know much about it (neither did the previous...

Opinions wanted: Peavey Cirrus USA bolt-on vs. neck-thru

Thank you both. I was leaning towards the neck-thru as well, but, having never played a bolt-on, I was curious. Plus, the wenge top is really nice, and from what I understand, quite rare. Much appreciated!

Opinions wanted: Peavey Cirrus USA bolt-on vs. neck-thru

$900 for neck-thru, $750 for bolt-on. Both good prices in my opinion. Both are in good shape. The bolt-on is flawless, while the neck-thru has some wear, one or two small dings and some chips around the cavity cover. They both have the molded cases.

Opinions wanted: Peavey Cirrus USA bolt-on vs. neck-thru

Hello all, After having sold (and regretted) a beautiful Peavey Cirrus USA neck-thru about 5 years ago, I am back in the market, and have the opportunity to buy another. However, and here is my dilemma, the seller has several different Cirrus to choose from. That's not the only issue. Because...

    Downsizing... any suggestions?

Thanks for the advice everyone... I especially like the idea of having 2 210s instead, portability and power when necessary. Mark... I'll look into that thread. Cheers,

    Downsizing... any suggestions?

Hi guys, I am thinking of downsizing my rig. I haven't been on stage in a few years, and feel that my 410 is a little large (and a little loud!) for my current situation. I currently play through an Eden 410XLT, but I'd like to get into perhaps a 210 combo. Requirements... 1. Portable...

Buying a New Bass, 1500$ Budget

Go for a Peavey Cirrus USA (you can get them used for ~$1000). They sound and play great, and are built to last... easy on the eyes too. I played a Cirrus for many years, and after selling it, I've always wanted one back. You can't go wrong with a Cirrus.

Recommend Me My First 5 String Bass

Hi there, I would suggest either... Ibanez SR405 or SR505 Peavey Millenium or Cirrus BXP All are excellent all around instruments with great construction, some nice options and good sound. I started my 5-string career on an Ibanez SR and played it for 5 or 6 years before "moving up"...
