The Mesa is similar in weight to many 12" PA speakers. My old headrush frfr 112 (based on alto ts312) was 16.3kg. It was a two-handed carry over anything more than a few yards. I absolutely wouldn't call that "ultra lite".

Where do they stand in relation to their amps? Right in front of them, pointed at their knees? If so, rearrange the rehearsal space so their facing their amps from the other side of the room. One of my guitarists didn't realise how loud and piercing his tone was until we did that.

Regarding the bridge, depending on its design, you may just be able to remove and reinstall the saddles in reverse order.

What kind of finish over the paisley at the moment. Relicing looks better on nitro finishes as they do naturally wear with use. Not so great on poly finishes which do not wear the same way and end up looking fake.

When I play mine in passive mode, there's a volume dip when the blend control is centred. Active mode fixes this, so volume is consistent throughout the blend control's sweep. This is a sign that the blend pot is passive and unbuffered, and completely removed from the preamp.

I wonder, could you cut an appropriately sized hole in the cavity cover and use a USB rechargeable battery? If it doesn't quite line up, you could attach a short USB extension cable. You'd never have to replace the battery again.

Depends. Passive isn't necessarily 100% passive. For example. My EHB1005SMS has a passive blend knob. This results in a volume dip when it's centred in passive mode, but maintains equal volumes in active mode. Other active basses I've had have a buffer that is still engaged in passive mode...
