Could you compare the Tom Brantley's Geddy' spec with another pickups? Mainly the Fender Pure Vintage 74 and the stock pickups that comes with the Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass (The Fender Original jazz Bass Pickups)

The model is the Fender Original Jazz Bass Pickups. The main bass that Geddy uses is a '72. Im looking for a pickup that sounds better with overdrives. Im using an EBS Billy Sheehan Drive. these are some samples of the pickups that Geddy is using on his main bass (examples 3 and 4):

anyone have compared the pure vintage 74 jazz bass pickups vs the fender original jazz bass pickups (that comes with the japanese fender geddy lee jazz bass)?

Based on the clips, the EMG GRZ is really great, and the best sounding pickup from all the demos. When i buy a pbass will be the first thing i will put in it. I read somewhere in the thread that emg will release a new passive set for jazz bass too... anyone have more info? it will be signature...

anyone that has the ampeg pf-500 or pf-800, can describe how it sounds with overdrive/distortion, in the front of the amp (not in the loop)? does it sounds muddy, or without definition? or lacking mids, and losing the texture of the overdrive/distortion? if anyone has tested with the EBS Billy...

this is why im asking here... because i cant play them. i will have to make an international order. its a blind date. im more inclined to the ampeg pf500, cause i liked its tone, but also, i didnt find any real good demo of the hartke ha3500. and im afraid of the reliability of the ampeg pf500...

i actually prefer billy sheehan with the hartke. but can be that he changed other things too... but what can work for one, may not work for another. anyway, he uses a dual amp setup.. and i cant afford that right now.
