Just a very quick shout out to the fine work of Tom Brantley. As many of you Geddy fans know, Tom winds and/or rewinds Geddy's Jazz bass pickups.

After living with Dimarzio Area J's on my Geddy for the past year I found myself wanting something different. More articulation and bottom end, less overtone. The appeal of noise-cancelling J pickups was lost on me since I play with both volumes full anyway.

Long story short - I put in a new pair of Tom Brantley Geddy Lee spec today and was very pleased with the difference. Nice low end, but a more articulate E and A string than before. Also more depth in the D and G strings.

I don't play or sound like Geddy, and that wasn't the goal. I just wanted to be able to hear and feel the notes at the same time - not one or the other.

Very happy to recommend Tom's work to anyone considering a custom pickup. Price was very much in line with market price for name brand Jazz pickups.

Could you compare the Tom Brantley's Geddy' spec with another pickups? Mainly the Fender Pure Vintage 74 and the stock pickups that comes with the Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass (The Fender Original jazz Bass Pickups)
