BagEnd was on my radar when i was browsing cabs. Looks like i made a good call going for Barefaced :-) I'm sure a BagEnd would've sound great as well, but the light weight of the BF is a big bonus. I love the dispersion, there's no need to look for a hot spot.. very convenient when playing...

    Double Bass BSX Megathread

I use a simple A-frame stand, for acoustic guitar. The only disadvantage, is that i have to expand the end pin every time i pick it up. The stand is very stable and sturdy, i've been using like this for a lot of years, especially when i was still doubling. I also own a Hercules stand, which i...

Not sure if you'd need a tweeter playing that style, you might want to look into the Super Twin. These cabs are superb in terms of displacement. Did a gig where i played over the main act's Ampeg fridge. It was a cool experience, but i prefer my own sound. I used to play in a stoner band. If...

Would/does your band do WEDDINGS? Are they that bad?

The Chicken Dance was a #1 hit in the '80s here in the Netherlands. It was THE dance craze until the Macarena. It's probably still played at weddings ;-) On national TV: Sorry for going offtopic...

Would/does your band do WEDDINGS? Are they that bad?

Yep, the weddings i've played have been like that.. Like the Jackson Browne song "They're the first to come and last to leave". Soundcheck has to be done before any of the guests arrive. We bring our own PA, can pack it in after the last guest has left. We've been hired as a musical back drop...

    Double Bass L-o-o-o-ng Status Update

Is this still acurate? Or are you using Shadow Pickups now? I love the BC pickups :-) The tension screw is very convenient. Have you tried their Channel Blaster yet? I've got one from the first series, really like it :-) Their second series (complete tail piece) looks very promising as well.

Double Bass New Nadine EarTrumpet Lab mic for jazz AND accoustic bass by Barry Green

"New"? Not sure when the endorsement started, that might be new.. But the Nadine has been around for a while. Christian McBride reviewed it in 2017:

An Acoustic Image Clarus+? Yeah, that oughta do the trick  They make superb stuff for doublebass, especially for doubling or playing with a mic (2 channels). The Super Twin's dispersion is properly a lot better. If you're in a high volume situation, it might be the way to go.

I wouldn't consider it essential.. more a matter of taste. The frequencyrange of the tweeterless cabs is also very good, so they'll properly work just as well. Now that you have a double bass at your disposal, you're going to find out if it works for you :-) I went for a tweeter, because i play...

That's interesting indeed. Maybe because you don't want really fat lows with a double bass? That can resonate in the body, making your sound muddy. Nothing that a little EQ'ing wont fix though.. Oh, and decoupling from the floor, to prevent boominess. I use an Auralex Gramma v2 for that. I...

The 10"s add color, the 12"s are neutral. If you want your upright bass to sound acoustic, i recommend 12"s. Depending on your requirements you can go either small: Super Midget, Big Baby II or large: Big Twin II.

Not sure what your requirements are... Do you want your bass to sound like an acoustic bass? Or don't you mind if an amp adds color to your sound. Do you want to go (crazy) loud? What cab's are you using? Do you have a pre-amp? Is portability a factor?
