also... it looks like guitar rig 5 pro is either going to be $200 for the software, and $400 of software and the Rig controller. Do I need to spend the extra$200? I just bought ableton live 9 suite and a midi controller so I'm hoping to not have to spend extra uneccesaril.

Attached a pic of my interface. Hopefully it's not too terrible. I haven't purchased guitar rig yet, but I have played my bass guitar through the monitor speakers. It sounded ok but then when I tried to record it seemed like there was a delay.

thanks. I did find out this weekend that drum machines are in fact out of style. My problem is a reluctance to make drum beats by "clicking" squares in a DAW like ableton. Did some of you say that I can download an app with my iphone, make a beat, then transfer it to my DAW...

I may wait for that. I still haven't made it to a guitar store to see what bass synth pedals they have and try them out. But from my experience these stores don't have a lot of bass pedals. They only cater to the guitarist, not cool!

seriously, no responses? They don't even have to be good ones. i.e. "check out 'xyz drum machine' by 'blah blah drums inc'. my buddy has one and it doesn't sound too crappy.' <<-that would be fine. I do want there to be a USB port option which rules out the one I posted above.
