It's really up to which ever one feels best to you and has a signal flow and workflow that you like. Personally, I swear by ableton, but as demonstrated, others have other opinions. What are you planning on using a DAW for? Are you just recording or do you plan to add other things and mix to make a full track?

It's a cheap Dean P-bass, an Edge 09 I think. It looks like a standard humbucker pickup. Idk because I got it from a friend and fixed it up a bit. I don't think it's ever gotten new strings so I might do that and see if it helps. Can anyone point me to a reliable guide to adjusting pickup...

When I'm playing chords up the neck and such, my E and A strings are much much louder than my D and G. They almost always clip and distort. I'm kinda new to bass in general so I want to know if this is normal or if there is something I can do to fix it.
