    Should I get fretless?

I really can't say yes or no. I bought one, had to have, waited nearly 6 months for it to be on stock during covid. Kept it for roughly 2 years and sold. Why? For me, I simply could not (or did not) dedicate the proper time and effort it takes to become reasonably proficient. Could I play odds...

    Oddball Basses

New band name: "Bleep Blorp Noises" I don't have any weirdo's on a wish list, but I do like the old Ampeg Scroll (correct name?) bass and/or the Eastwood copies.

What is your biggest "OMG why didnt I buy that??!!" story?

Not a regret, but the only bass I ever said "rats, should've bought that one" was the Chapman MLB-1 when they were on clearance. Not high end, not overly popular, but I really liked it! Had it in my cart and was ready to buy, decided to wait and talk to the wife. Well, couple hours later she...

Opening acts that went on to huge success

Thought it was '90, but probably June '91, saw Alice in Chains open for Van Halen. Man in a Box was really the only song getting airplay at the time around here. Semi-outdoor venue called Blossom in NE Ohio. They went on when it was bright and sunny. Dark stage. Hard to see anything! They...

Accidental Band Names- what did YOU hear today?

Admittedly, I haven't read through all 266 pages (although I should!). But you know, those incessant medince commercials are literally full of fantastic band/song/album names! Forgive me if they've been said already: -Itching and Burning -Skin of the Perineum (I *cannot* be the only one to have...

Thinking about making the jump to a multi effects pedal...advice?

That's the one I had been eyeing!! Went ahead and placed the order today! :bassist: Seemed like the best fit for what I want to accomplish. Pretty decent price all things considered, too.

Thinking about making the jump to a multi effects pedal...advice?

Thank you for the question, and the initial response! My situation is different although I'm looking for a similar solution. I'm a casual player and would like to streamline my equipment. I don't use a ton of effects and carrying a big pedal board for 25% of the time seems like overkill and not...

Does anyone like Acoustic Bass Guitars?

I owned a MK Firefly for a while. Sounded great at church with an acoustic folk group (although still plugged in). That was probably the best setting simply due to the tone/sound matching - or at least being very similar - to what everyone else was doing. I did like it for that, but now I...

Sire p5 499 or a fender player series for 684

I should clarify a little - for what it's worth, what I meant to say is that while my Fender is a very nice bass with no complaints, I didn't have the same 'wow' factor as when I purchased the Sire. Again, you and others may have different opinions, but that's where I was going with the comment.

Sire p5 499 or a fender player series for 684

I have a few year old MIM Fender P, and just recently purchased a Sire V7 (Jazz style) from SW. Gotta say, I'm blown away by the Sire. Now granted, fully admit here, I don't have huge range of experience with other makes and models, but man the thing plays nice! As well, a couple other...

What year did you start playing bass?

Wanted to say 2009, I was 37? Didn't buy another until 2015, then the floodgates opened, sorta. Lol! I now have 4 and a 5th on the way.

    NBD - I bouht a Harley, er, P Bass!

Been away from TB for a long time due to job changes. Good to be back! So yeah, I recently bought a P bass. And, I love it. I’m rather indecisive – especially about what to buy. My playing is nearly all recreational; 85% of what I have time to do is play at church (see: little/no income...

NBD: Epiphone Jack Casady Blue Royale

Oh man nice score! I've been digging that blue for a while, and if I were in a different financial situation right now, I'd pull the trigger as well! Enjoy!!

You are given 13k to spend on a bass, what will it be.

Wow, I struggle with contemplating how I'd spend $1300, let alone ten times that amount! Lol!
