NBD: Epiphone Jack Casady Blue Royale

I have had the gold JC bass for several years and love (and got JC himself to sign it last year).

My only "complaint" about the bass is that it is not well balanced on the shoulder. If you don't support the neck, it will plunge--just be aware. It is super comfortable to play and sounds great always.

Love that blue color!

I found a nice long strap to use but it definitely hangs on the body different than a regular bass. The neck is more forward, where you are looking at the top and can't see the fretboard as much. Maybe that is just my gut, not sure. Lol

Why do they refuse to make a natural or burst version of their genuinely acoustic bodied bass? I mean that kinda IS Epiphone's signature. I'm sure Jack would not be TOO opposed - most of his instruments before he discovered the Les Paul bass (Guild Starfire, Guild Acoustic, etc.).

It came in a burst for a limited run. Never seen natural but it's possible since they've gone through limited runs of black, white, silverburst and now blue. Jack had a red one made just for himself, I'd like to see that in a limited run too.

I think Jack has one that's defretted, pretty sure I saw him playing one once, but I don't think they make one.

If my memory serves, it happened to be the (or a) red one that appeared fretless.

That is a fine looking bass. I've never seen this color before. I had the white Jack Casady bass and found it to be a very well made instrument. I really liked the neck. I used a 3" wide Glove Leather strap from Franklin Strap. That stopped the neck dive. You may need a longer extension as this bass likes to be played low and off the hip. Good luck, I am sure you will enjoy your new bass. :thumbsup:

Nice! They are great basses. I have had my gold top for about 8 years and still love it! Was that price with the case included? String her up with some blue steels , you'll have a grand piano. Good job!

I had to buy the case separate, but it ended up being less for both than what the bass costs now. Gonna give it a whirl at Seafood Fest this Sunday.
